presentation of the XSR 700 Yard Built - The Outrun - 2018
Has a KTM RC8 escaped from a collection to cause trouble at Wheels & Waves? Not at all. It's actually a new Yard Built creation. Thanks to the Ton-Up Garage workshop, the Yamaha XSR 700 takes a leap back in time to the 80s, with a design inspired by synthesizers and neon lights in psychedelic colors. The "Outrun", completely transformed to embody the spirit of the 1980s, shows just how far the Yamaha Sport Heritage range can go.
Portuguese converter Ton-up Garage set no limits to its inspiration, opting in the end for a concept that recaptures the 1980s idea of the future: a brutal, cold, cutting-edge world. If you've seen TRON, the iconic film of that decade, the design of this XSR 700 "Outrun" will be surprisingly familiar. Its flashy colors and sharp lines remind us of the image we had of the future not so long ago. The chassis has been hand-built by welding aluminum polygons; beneath a fine varnish, the brushed finish of the metal shines through.
The Ton-up Garage workshop also assembled its own wheels and a stainless steel exhaust to complete the look of this bike, fitted with homologated racing tires. Presented at Wheels and Waves 2018, this XSR 700 is one of six Yamaha Yard Built responders to the "Back to the Future" theme. The Outrun model from the Ton-up Garage workshop caused a sensation, winning the historic Punk's Peak race in its class.
