presentation of the Tracer 7 GT 2022
Suitcases , a bubble, a saddle... We can't possibly limit the Tracer 7 GT to these words alone, to this exhaustive and soulless list, to this serious vanity. Is this GT label usurped? Does this enlarged stern look like an ennobled machine? Does this mix of roadster, tourer and cruiser see the slightest escapade as quickly as the driver?
We'll stop the tirades there. Let's concentrate on the GT "pack" that has been grafted onto the little trail-routier-un-peu-sport. The recipe has earned its durability, as Yamaha used to offer the little Tracer GT only in odd-numbered years. This phase is based on the redesigned version of this machine.
The taste for travel is identical to the previous generation. First of all, a good windshield that breaks the wind with a much larger surface area. Over 9 cm more height and 7 cm more width. Cervical vertebrae will appreciate this.
The neck is done. Now it's time to think about the buttocks, which may or may not be tanned by the miles and the quality of the seat. On the Tracer 7 GT, a comfort saddle with topstitching takes care of the rider. Especially his bottom.
Finally, a pair of suitcases and their attachments. These are the City models, capable of carrying the weekend's minimum. With 20 liters each, there's no room for a full-face helmet. There's about as much room as in a small microwave oven. If you manage well, you can fit a laptop, a shirt, a pair of pants, a pair of shoes, 2 pairs of socks, your wallet, glasses and a photo of your mother-in-law. You can fit a thick wool winter sweater in the other suitcase.
All this to say that the Tracer 7 GT allows you to carry only the essentials, but is more practical than two backpacks. It's an accessory-equipped bike; no relation to the Tracer 9 GT, which is a very specific version of the 900, with pilot-operated suspension and cornering lights that the standard Tracer 9 doesn't have.
Underneath the package, we find the MT-07 in touring dress, with its 73.4 hp CP2 twin, its healthy and fun chassis, its few electronics that allow unfiltered enjoyment of motorcycle riding, its simplicity and its trail-SUV comfort.

Shifting gears is very difficult or even blocked, which is very dangerous for the rider (I was almost run into 3 times at the start of the green light, the second time not engaging). The vehicle is new. The mechanic tells me I need to change the clutch (the bike is 3 days old from the factory). At first, I thought it was the break-in, but having had a Kawazaki Z900, I didn't have this problem when I bought it new. The craziest thing is that they let you leave with the vehicle.
I wrote to Yamaha MOTOR France and got the warranty to work.
I'm a bit disappointed because it seems that the problem is known.
Letting a new licence holder drive off with a faulty motorcycle is not very professional, especially when the clutch malfunctions. You have to drive for 30 minutes to get the gears to run more smoothly Rating : 2/5 Respond to Yass83

The top case contains only the rain gear, sandals, handbag and other odds and ends, leaving room for a helmet, jacket and big shoes for when we stop for a walk.
I have reservations about the so-called "comfort" saddle. I find it very ugly, with that detachment that reminds me of old customs, and I find it very hard. For the time being, I've put the original saddle back on, which feels better. I'll have to wait and see, as the bike has just come in from the dealer... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Flo
as long as you have the right bags so you don't have to take them apart at every stop
you can stay for a week's vacation (in a hotel, not a campsite)
in my left suitcase: 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of Bermuda shorts, 7 T-shirts, 7 pairs of socks, 7 pairs of boxers
in the right: shoes, laptop, 1 sweater, 1 sweater, swimsuit, toiletries, cables and miscellaneous
in the top case: camera gear, towel, jacket lining, and helmet when I remove the camera gear
this bike is a good compromise for traveling for less than 10,000 euros, fully equipped, and even if I miss the saddle on my Deauville, it's still comfortable. Rating : 4/5 Respond to HiO
