presentation of the S 2012
imagine having maximum torque and power instantly from start-up. Imagine smooth acceleration as you turn the throttle. Imagine never having to stop at a service station, and never having to schedule an engine or gearbox overhaul. Not only does this dream exist... it's now within reach.
developed for urban use yet capable of back-road escapades, the Zero S integrates revolutionary technology with innovative design. The result is a high-performance motorcycle with one of the lowest running costs per kilometer. The "Z-Force™" battery and powertrain technology has been upgraded to incorporate a braking energy recovery system. From now on, the Zero S goes faster and further than ever.
whether you're accelerating in a straight line or exiting a corner, the Zero S is designed to deliver unique sensations that no other motorcycle can. Are you ready?
the Zero S is the first production electric motorcycle to break the 'technical' 160 km barrier (tested by the US Environmental Protection Agency - EPA to UDDS standards). The Zero S inaugurates a new-generation powertrain based on 4 elements : a brushless motor capable of reaching a top speed of 142 km/h, 34 km/h more than the previous version; a new battery and cell configuration; energy recovery during braking; and a battery designed to last the life of the motorcycle. Customers can choose according to their needs: the new ZF6 and ZF9 packs can respectively achieve 120 Km and 180 Km according to EPA-UDDS tests. Depending on the pack chosen, seat height varies from 841 to 832 mm. The ZF6 is rated for 330,000 km, while the ZF9 is rated for 495,000 km. Charging times and weight also vary.
the design integrates the new powertrain, ventilation system and body components to ensure easy maintenance and optimum cooling. Revised geometry and resized brake discs improve handling and braking performance.
the 2012 Zero S model is visually different from the previous version in terms of fairing extensions, components and graphics. Built around an aircraft-style aluminum frame, it introduces new reinforced and lightened steel rims. The new, more modern headlight adds the finishing touch to the Zero S's elegant design.
on the figures, expect to pay 11,495 euros, 135 kilos and 122 km of range for an S with the ZF6 package. The higher version, with the ZF9, weighs 20 kilos more, costs 13,995 euros, but provides 50% more range. Charging costs 89 centimes for the ZF6 pack, 1.34 euros for the ZF9.
