presentation of the 500 RR 2026
ZXMOTO has built a solid reputation since its arrival on the Chinese market. With raw sportiness, high-performance bikes right out of the gate, and a top-tier presence immediately upon its debut in the world SuperSport series with its 820 RR.
Its debut in France is highly anticipated, and it will make its entrance with a compact 4-cylinder sport bike: the 500 RR.
Yes, a small 4-cylinder. This type of engine had enjoyed a notable surge in popularity long ago with the ZXR 400, NC 30, 400 Bandit, and other curiosities— they’re far more common in Japan, due to its draconian regulations. Since then, the twin-cylinder has ruled the roost—until Kawasaki put the spotlight back on the four-cylinder by introducing its ZX-4R. A brilliant PR move for a very fun machine.
ZXMOTO is now entering the same arena with a bike that exudes the roar of the engine and a certain mechanical passion even before the marketing kicks in. That’s because its founder is determined to put the thrill of motorcycling above all else. One of the key steps is to offer an engine you don’t come across every day. With this engine, boredom seems to have been struck from the specifications.
An Engine That’s Already Promising
This “small” multi-cylinder engine follows the Japanese design philosophy: a very super-square bore-to-stroke ratio, a high compression ratio (12.9:1), 4 valves per cylinder, and five-digit RPMs to squeeze out the power. And there’s no shortage of that. From its 470 cm³ displacement, the engine delivers no less than 84 chevaux at 13,500 rpm—7 more than the Kawa. To put that in perspective, a Honda CBR 500 R twin, with the same displacement, manages only 48 ch. Now you know what to do! Rev the engine to the redline, and you’ll kick off the session with pure riding joy.
Its 46 Nm of torque won’t break any bricks, but that’s not what you expect from a track-focused bike like this. It’s better to have a light, nimble machine. In fact, the 500RR boasts an excellent dry weight of 158 kg—almost the same as a KTM 125 Duke. Add to that a wheelbase of less than 1,400 mm and a moderate rake angle, and you have a machine that promises agility. It’s a shame the 180 tire doesn’t quite fit that bill, but it does contribute to the rear end’s aggressive feel.

Because the ZXMOTO 500RR means business. Its fairly versatile design blends seriousness with sportiness, rebellion over playfulness, and adrenaline without worrying about appearances. You’ll definitely spot hints of the CBR 600 up front and the Yamaha R in the rear, and then you’ll start going “Wow” when you discover an aluminum single-sided swingarm (surprising at this level of the lineup and price point), forged footpegs, radial brake calipers, and a beautiful inverted fork.
Incredible equipment for a 500
ZXMOTO wanted all the components to be 100% Chinese—out of patriotism? No Brembo, Showa, or Öhlins for the 500RR, but Taisko 4-piston calipers. The suspension, meanwhile, is by Yu-An. These names might raise an eyebrow, as their reputation is virtually unknown in our part of the world—and in our minds, which have been saturated with Japanese and European brands for decades—except that we’ve seen ZXMOTO takes things very seriously. The handling dynamics of this 500RR are sure to surprise many.
It also features cutting-edge solutions worthy of a higher class. The sporty character is highlighted by the engine’s breathtaking pace, followed by the activation of one of the 5 riding modes (3 preset + 2 customizable), the shifter, 3-level traction control, Launch Control, 3-level engine management, anti-dribble clutch, cornering ABS, and multi-adjustable suspension. There are a few more concerns regarding the CST tires—these tires don’t really measure up to the recognized leaders in the field.

The 500RR is built on a tubular steel trellis frame. This 13.5 kg structure is fairly common for this type of motorcycle. There might still be some weight to shave off with an aluminum perimeter frame, but the cost would skyrocket. Like everyone else, it’s equipped with winglets to boost its aerodynamic efficiency… Yeah, mostly just to follow the trend. We’ll give more credit to the forced-air intake, which adds 2 ch at speeds of 160 km/h and above.
First test ride?
Brace yourself—here comes a shock! The ZXMOTO 500RR is aimed at track riders but also at young up-and-comers, as it will be available in the A2 category. With all its bells and whistles, you’d expect a price well over 8,000 euros…. But it’s less than that: 7,000 for this little speed demon!
While that might seem expensive for a Chinese 500, it’s absolutely not the case for this kind of little speedster —and it’s only 400 euros more than a Ninja 500, with the added bonus of nearly double the power, equipment on a whole other level, and a look that’s sure to turn heads.
Let’s not get too carried away. ZXMOTO is just entering the market, and things haven’t been all smooth sailing for its first models in its home market. But today and tomorrow, the brand is being watched very closely.

It’s been a long time coming to finally see bikes under 500 cc return to the French market with this level of performance.
And at a price that’s still very affordable.
This model guarantees originality, but also definite efficiency.
I’m a little surprised that with such a weight-to-power ratio, it only reaches a modest 205 km/h, while its equivalents are rated at 220?
Or maybe its final drive ratio is really, really short!!
It would be nice to have a naked roadster version with the same engine and frame, for those who want to ride without having to lean forward over the fuel tank! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jeff2A
