presentation of the RSV 1000 1998

Producing mainly small-displacement bikes, Aprilia has done rather well with its first big sports bike. Its engine, a 60° V-twin, is a technological gem. In addition to fuel injection, it is equipped with a pneumatic clutch-assist system for downshifting. Torquey, powerful, fairly smooth and with plenty of reach, the mill is a pleasure to use. It's a hypersport, but not as exclusive as its Bologna rival.

Above all, it's easier to ride, even if you have to put a lot of effort into it. The bike requires the rider to use his or her body to place it - and the reassuring, efficient front end makes it easy to do so. The Aprilia can be enjoyed on the racetrack as well as in everyday life. With its accommodating suspension, pleasant controls and protective fairing, this is a generous sports bike in many respects. A few regrets, however: the rear shock absorber doesn't cope well with minor bumps on bumpy roads. As for the brakes, they could do with a little more bite under hard braking.
APRILIA RSV 1000With its obvious qualities, the RSV is one of the best sport twins on the market. Its handling makes it just as efficient and much less demanding than a 996. A machine capable of much more than it seems.

Apart from a temperamental cold start (a known problem) and dangerous rigor mortis on bumpy roads, it's all happiness, torque and power, forget comfort and open up the throttle! It pulls between 2,500 and 6,000 rpm, then rips your arms off right up to the red zone. The best chassis I've ever seen on clean pavement... It's wild and brutal, and not for everyone Rating : 4/5
French Gsxrbob Model 2002
I traded in a 1999 CBR919 for a 2002 rsv1000 with 74000kms
This is my 34th bike and my first European bike. And this time I'm not disappointed, I'm just happy.
The engine, chassis and equipment are all top-notch
With the exception of the rear brake, which is absent, and the front brake, which lacks a bit of bite
In short, I love an Italian that can be used like a Japanese.

I was very surprised, as I've only had Japanese models. Super torque, you have to invest your body for optimum control, but it comes naturally. VERY VERY NICE MACHINE ðŸ'Œ Rating : 4/5
Moto géniale
French Picj Model 2000
I had a 1000 RSV from 2000 and I did 64,000 kms with it without doing it any favors, because I used it as if it were a Japanese bike and I only had one problem with the starter freewheel under warranty. Out of the 3 bikes I've owned so far, this is the one I've had the most fun with. I loved it for its handling, braking, character and engine performance. I once had a run-in with an R1, and it was only on the restart that it nibbled at my time, but I came back on it in the corners, and as far as top speed was concerned, it was kif kif, except when it came to the speedometers, because the Aprilia's is very accurate and the R1's cheats quite a bit. While the Aprilia's speedo was reading 295km/h, mine was 265km/h, and yet I was behind, and it wasn't a question of aspi, because when I was in front it was the same
In short, it's a great bike.

Not convinced by the test drive of a 2002 version, bouncy when there are slight bumps on a country road, no kick up the arse, fairly linear engine but full all round. So I went for a much healthier and more powerful 955i Sprint ST. Rating : 1/5
fuite d'huile a l'arrière du moteur sur Aprilia RSV 1000
French danydan160 Model 2001
Hello, I have a 2001 rsv with 13,000 kms that is leaking at the rear of the engine
at first I thought it was a hose that hadn't aged well, but now I don't know what to think. In one week I've filled up a big can of food, so if there's anyone who can explain it to me, please do. Thanks in advance.

A real treat!
Reliability and power are the order of the day! Very precise in its trajectories, it goes where you look without question.
Add to that a pleasant torque and a deep sound... A success!

I bought a "low-end" 2003 rsv 6 months ago and I now have it well in hand. It's my first European and it won't be my last. The chassis is great, the front braking is amazing. The engine is just as good, it's like a rubber band that stretches from 2000 to 6500rpm and kicks you in the ass at 7000rpm. Personally, I'm already happy with the stock version (except for the pot and filter). A shorter transmission would be welcome, as in 6th gear I'm at 3500rpm at 90kmh. It's hard to eat the bowls of saké (1000cm3) in a straight line, but the first time I brake and then take a bend, it's a done deal! Rating : 5/5

Finally in my hands, my Italian beauties! I've been waiting for this for so long, and now it's here, I've finally been able to treat myself to my little rsv. One word to conclude: "SATISFIED" Rating : 5/5
French Model 1998
Still no potential replacement to date, despite all the research: original styling that may or may not please, but doesn't leave anyone indifferent, sufficient power and, above all, an engine full of character, infallible roadholding, even if the faint-hearted may find it a little nimble, it's unique
It's been my daily companion for the past 18,000 km, and that's likely to continue for a while yet.

a bike that couldn't be more pleasant to ride, the most surprising thing is its efficiency for its weight! a former owner of a TLR, it's much harder to get the hang of, but once you've got the hang of it, it becomes a toy that gives you unparalleled sensations! one thing's for sure, the 10th bike I'll buy will be an RSV!
