presentation of the 500 V-DUE 1997
farewell to sporty 2-strokes. The ever-increasing performance of 4-strokes and anti-pollution standards are dooming these engines with their distinctive charms. With Aprilia's 250 RS, only this Bimota 500 V DUE is left to make the mewing of holey cylinders. The only large 2-stroke twin on the market, the Bimota appeared with a few problems and an electronic injection system outstripped by the engine's pace. For this Evolutione edition, the Italian forgets its problems and goes back to good old carburetors. It is offered in 2 versions: Strada for the road, and Trofeo for the track, its preferred venue. The V DUE is a special machine in motorcycle production, not only because of its engine design, but also because of its strengths: 118 hp to carry a featherweight of 145 kg dry weight. With that, you've got everything you need to enter another dimension. The powertrain is smooth and easy to ride... before becoming impressively furious once you reach 8,000 rpm. The chassis is no slouch either. It's sporty, period! Stable and ultra-efficient, this machine is like a fish in water on the racetrack - and you'll be rewarded with outstanding handling and musicality. Although a little expensive, it is nothing less than an exceptional machine.
