presentation of the R 1250 RT 2021

The R 1250 RT is certainly the motorcycle that has come closest to road perfection. Although it has beaten off all the competition, it can't help but pursue a relentless technological evolution.

It's a natural progression into the 3rd decade of the century, loaded with new riding aids and a formidable face of certainty. A sedan on two wheels, almost as well equipped as a car.

An RT has a certain majesty. A figurehead of a certain tonnage, both broad and elegant. For this 8th generation, the look has sharpened. Thinner, tighter, more technical eyes make this BM's large forehead more dynamic. Apart from this face, a refined front line to widen the field of vision, and the freshly reworked front fender, everything else about the 1250 remains the same. The recognizable silhouette and the balance between size, protection and comfort have dictated the conservation of lines and size.

One of the main surprises lies beneath the windshield, still electrically adjustable. A black pane mirrors digital technologies.
In 2017, BMW unveiled its color TFT connectivity screen as an option for the R 1200 GS. Since then, it has become a standard feature across the range. For the RT, the manufacturer is moving up a gear. A huge panoramic screen, as wide as an iPad but not as high. At 10.25" diagonal, it's 58% larger than the one fitted to the R, RS and GS - and almost double the surface area of the previous RT screen.

With such a large surface area, it's now possible to fit a GPS, and operate it at the same time as the on-board info. In a 1920 x 720 px High Definition space, a map can be displayed on the right third or full screen, as desired. Provided you have installed the appropriate app on your smartphone.

BMW R 1250 RT 2021 the mechanical heart of the 1250 RT is invariably a twin Boxer. It delivers 136 hp, a hefty 14.5 mkg of torque, and a power curve that can be filled to the brim thanks to shiftcam variable valve timing. By way of example, over 11 mkg are available from 2,000 to 8,250 rpm. Introduced in 2009, this block was already designed to easily pass Euro5. Its validation therefore entails no change in force values or in the revs at which their maximums are reached

However, the electronic transplants wanted to add another layer. There's something new in the Driving Modes, with 'ECO' for economical / ecological / eco-bullying driving... Sorry, bucolic? I'm sorry, bucolic... Some of these have been upgraded from option to standard equipment. Such is the case with DTC traction control, replacing ASC traction control.

Cruise control has also been added. Dynamic, it maintains the programmed speed (that's its job) even on downhill gradients. If the gradient is too steep, it uses the brakes in addition to engine braking.
But he has an apprentice this year. Take another look at the revamped snout... The little plate in the nose of this new RT is an on-board radar. Our friends at Bosch have developed a new gadget: adaptive cruise control. The rider sets a distance to the vehicle in front, and the motorcycle adjusts speed accordingly. This solution, which has been used for several years in the automotive industry, is now coming to our shores. BMW announced it in mid-2020. But don't get too excited; Active Cruise Control is optional.

A change in the brakes, but not in the mechanical part. The 320 mm discs and 4-piston radial bearings are identical to the old RT. Except that they are now coached by Full Integral ABS Pro. In concrete terms, BMW has brought together everything that can be done electronically with brakes. Hand or foot action acts simultaneously on the front and rear calipers, with the security of angle-sensitive ABS and engine brake regulation.

BMW R 1250 RT 2021 the same engine, the same brakes, the same frame, the same suspension - BMW hasn't touched the fundamentals. The Telelever fork and Paralever gimbaled swingarm have long since proved their worth. The Munich-based brand is able to enhance comfort with ESA Dynamic Next Generation - its semi-active suspensions that 'read' the road and automatically adapt to the load. For France, this refinement comes as standard, as does the emergency call system, and the new adaptive curve lighting integrated into the headlamp unit. The daytime running light signature adopts a new shape, not unlike that of the RS; or the 900 XR; or the S 1000 RR - in short, the new BMW identity.

Here, the options. We've already seen that the adaptive cruise control is one of the new features.
The catalog is always well-stocked, and includes Riding Modes Pro, for additional Dynamic and Dynamic Pro maps, as well as MSR engine braking control. Let's not forget (but not necessarily) the 2.0 audio system, hands-free starting, shifter, heated saddles and the new 'Comfort telephony with extended smartphone connection'. In other words, a ventilated glove compartment where you can stow your phone and recharge it either by induction or USB.

Riding the RT, you'd think it knew only one boundary: where the road ends. Imperturbable and even better equipped, it laughs at the maxi-trailers that have become its main threat. Its qualities come at a high price. The R 1250 RT smashes the 20,000 roros mark. An increase of over 2,500 euros. It has to be said that the equipment package has also taken a big leap forward.

Heavy bike for stationary maneuvers, but very nimble while riding. The footrests are really set back like on a sports bike, which didn't suit me with my 1m85 frame, my knees were too bent and using the shifter wasn't very easy! The bubble protects too well, ideal for the freeway, but in town it's impossible to get fresh air over your chest because the bubble blocks the wind. Apart from that, very good bike. But you don't have to be of average height to feel comfortable on it. Rating : 4/5

I've got an RT 1250R triple black model 2022, one of the very first to arrive in stores. I've seen this magnificent machine and I'm really not disappointed at all, because it's everything, even I would say of remain the control a rare bicycle for a motor bike of 298kg the assembly superb like behavior even with two people it surprises even the large sporting with acceleration of 0 has 100kh in 3 seconds not astonishing that our gendarmes all dream to have the same one because eu they have no options poor Macron you could make an effort finally I finish simply that if you can offer it to you I say to you that of happiness greetings jmj Rating : 5/5

This bike has all the necessary qualities, except one: reliability. BMW has regressed in this area, and that's a shame. The day Honda brings out the Pan European with its Japanese quality, I'll be tempted. Rating : 4/5
Le flat ultime?
French Xjrlaser Model 2023
Until you've ridden an RT, you can't even imagine what it can do... The 1250 RT is the ultimate RT, with an exceptional engine that's both torquey and powerful. On-board electronics, notably the new 10-inch TFT screen, manage navigation, telephone, suspension, engine and more... A travel machine that can take you, your passenger and your luggage to a sporty pace in the greatest comfort, and on mountain roads, many "sport" motorcycles will be surprised by this pace... So yes, it's an expensive motorcycle, even a very expensive one, but as are all the bikes in this range, whether it's the Ducati Multistrada V4 or a Goldwing... Rating : 5/5

Hello, ISARD 65, I don't think you can fit a regulator, because the bike isn't designed for it. But go to the WUNDERLICH MOTO BMW site, you'll find it. (The handle that blocks the speed at a good price). BONNE JOURNEE A TOUS JEAN MI DIT LE DJOUG Rating : 5/5

The ultimate motorcycle. I've had several motorcycles in my life, I'm 62. Motorcycles from 50/125/400/1200/1700VMAX ETC... But today, I can tell you, I'm in nirvana. In a nutshell: the motorcycle is a fighter jet of acceleration and speed (watch out for speeding tickets!) Comfort, flexibility, braking, lots of torque. Plenty of room for travel gear. I have the Full option model, triple black. The Akra pot brings out the power of the engine. Very smooth, the handling is exceptional. Driving is exemplary, and the cruise control is a delight. Finally, yes, the price, but a Lamborghini costs just as much, so you have to make a choice, Pullman or kéké motorcycle. My choice is made, since 3 months, adoption, I love !!! Rating : 5/5

After a 1250 GS, it's the 1250 RT elegance model 2021. For me, 71 years old, it's less playful than the trail bike, but my handling is better because the seat is lower. Bought second-hand from a private individual, I'm just missing the "schifter" I had on the GS, so I'm re-educating myself with the clutch. By the way, can this option be fitted afterwards?
In my opinion, the must-have road bike. Motorcyclist since 1969.

I'm on my 3rd RT, including 2 1250s, the last of which is the 2020 Exclusive, so it's fair to say that I really appreciate this bike..
My 2015 1200 RTlc, with which I rode 36,000 km, was already an excellent bike, and had made me give up Japanese bikes..
But the 1250, with its full, more powerful engine, and especially the new, more comfortable ESA, is another (big) step up..
For my part, I'll be waiting for the release of the future RT equipped with the new 1300 flat engine, as I'm critical of the 2021 and 2022 models for their temperamental gPS operation with the BMW app, to say the least..
Oh yes, for those of you who don't want to buy an RT, don't let your favorite passenger try out this bike, because after that she won't want to ride anything else... !!!!

Hello everyone, I'm the proud owner of a 1250GS 2023 and am considering "swapping" it for a 1250RT of the same year. Whether it's one or the other, and having tried quite a few models, including from other brands, these machines are almost beyond reproach. To be objective, all manufacturers currently make very good machines, but it's true that when you try a BMW, you've adopted it, so to speak. I'd just like to say that the bmw motorrad Connected app is not at all up to scratch, just like the garmin navigator VI app, which I've also used. Yet I've used both apps on different phones, but each time the same result. Too bad they don't allow CarPlay, that would be great with apps like calimoto or liberty rider. Hopefully they'll improve their app. But with their app they can give you information on the state of health on your bike and also have access to this data. Michel 65 years old Belgium Rating : 5/5

I rented it for a week and we did 1600 kms with my friend. A senatorial comfort, it follows curves with precision and speed. You never take it for a ride. Phenomenal torque for breathtaking acceleration in royal comfort. I'd give up my r1250 gs for it. The only drawback is the shape of the side cases, which open to the side and are not very practical to fill if you don't have the optional inner case Rating : 5/5
BRETAGNE
French Model 2021
Call this new RT perfection, perhaps! But certainly not perfection in terms of finish
Indeed, a few aerodynamic noises interfere with the picture, or a complex GPS device requiring a smartphone and the BMW Motorrad Connected app that regularly loses its signal!
It's also unfortunate that the rear charging socket is now optional, (unlike my 2017 R 1200 RT)
On the various frame links, there are still no plugs and the seat is relatively low-end
BMW lettering on the front brake caliper and Brembo on the rear!
In short, a motorcycle with omnipresent plastic that, at over €28,000 (with options), remains very comfortable and practical for everyday use. But if high standards come at a price, I don't think this new RT 2021 delivers them in full.

Whatever people say, it's a magnificent bike. I have a 2019 RT 1250 with 18,000 km on it. I'm selling it to upgrade to the 2021 model. It's true that it's expensive, but that's the price of a beautiful bike. Rating : 5/5
11,4% de hausse du prix, en pleine crise
French Model 2021
Well, that's clever !!! :-))) What "sales manager" thought that raising the price so much, all at once and in the middle of a crisis, would be a good idea? At least we'll know who drives a BM... :-( Rating : 3/5
French
Bmw has been making the right choices for years! In these times of crisis, why should that change? In fact, it's one of the manufacturers that's coping best with the crisis, despite its "Premium" position and the prices that go with it! Not bad, eh? Question: why do we no longer have a competitive motorcycle brand? We've got the know-how! So now we can't criticize the choices made by manufacturers who are still on the market! Criticizing is easy, it's just French! Rating : 5/5
