presentation of the 659 MULHACEN 2006

derbi is investing in niches other than its 50s and 80s market. With a gradual move upmarket, including the launch of the Nude and GPR in 125 displacement, the Spanish manufacturer intends to give life to the astonishing Mulhacén model. The first large-displacement motorcycle in Derbi's history is a scrambler with a strong dirt-track visual identity. It's powered by a 659 cm3 4 T single. It's a familiar engine, and with good reason: it's the mill used in the Yamaha XT 660. Initially a concept car, the Mulhacén seems destined to appeal to bikers looking for originality. With its cute little face, compact size, inverted fork with radial brake caliper, fully digital instrument panel, stylish lines and edgy look, this machine is sure to get noticed. Especially with its hefty price tag approaching the 7,000 euro mark. To justify this price, Derbi has no interest in undercutting the performance of its first "big" bike.

To mark its arrival on the market, Derbi is launching a major operation: since Friday May 26, it has been possible to order one of 100 Mulhacéns in a limited, numbered edition on the www.mulhacen.derbi.com website . This series also features a carbon cover on the fuel tank, and Derbi is offering a Berik brand jacket customized with the Mulhacén 659 logo.

The term Mulhacén comes from Muley Hacén, the penultimate king of Granada, who, according to legend, was buried on the summit of the highest peak in the Sierra Nevada and gave it his name.

i admit that this machine has a look that's out of the ordinary.it's different and not to displease.I have a buddy who bought it.he was annoyed with the speedometer, the regulator a breakdown that nailed him to the side of the road, electronics and electricity is not great on this bike. i confirm: the noise is ugly.my buddy bought a pot: it's a little better.it consumes a lot. about 10l per 100 and if you're driving like a fool, of course.it's not the deal of the century. it's just a style but not a very high quality machine. sorry for those who are enthusiastic^^ Rating : 3/5

And come on Thor and I don't know who, it's ugly and it's not powerful enough...you think you're dreaming, we're going to have to give you the motorcycle definition manual again !!!!!!!!!!!
i've just tried it...it's simply brilliant!!! on a freeway you'll be in front with your hypertrophied vacuums, but come on a real mountain pass (not the ones for foreigners, as they say in Savoie)
it's the very essence of motorcycling !!!

i've just bought one, it's a really nice bike, I've done 360km in a day, all mountain passes including the ventoux, it's a real pleasure for an old biker like me, it kicks, it holds the road and it brakes really hard. what else can you ask for? it's a real pleasure and for cheap and as a bonus I show off when I park it next to the other bikes. I've had a carbon plate mount done to remove the mudflap, not expensive if you want to enjoy the mould. Rating : 5/5

We've been dreaming of a road-going gromono for a long time, with an original design, simple and light, and now I've fallen for it! Of course, at 4,490 euros, you'd have to be an idiot not to buy this jewel
I've had it for 2 weeks now and I love it: the beast is still being run in and you can already tell how much fun it is to ride, torquey, relatively smooth (!?....it's a gromono!!!.....) compared to the same Yamaha engine (different mapping), happy and eager to take you far.An excellent everyday bike, much more usable than all the hypersports and roadsters that are selling like hotcakes, yet don't do much on bumpy, tricky, curvy country or mountain roads. For me, it's the ideal motorcycle, with great design, equipment and finish that would make any other machine green with envy. Since then, my other motorcycles and my side have stayed in the garage!... it's so good, I'm going back to it right away! hummmmm

strangely enough, I agree with all of them, because they're all right on one or more points: it's got a surprising look, which can be disconcerting (or you love it); I fell for the 320 front end, the anodized fork, the beefy swingarm, in short, the techno look. Of course, on the mold side, it's not a Hayabusa... it's not the same budget, either
4500 E, there's no new 660 at that price, so ... of course, in terms of looks, instead of the "trumpet" exhaust, we can look forward to a nice double Akrapovic titanium under the backsplash. I'll be taking delivery at the end of the month. In the meantime, I'm dreaming - and isn't that what a bike is all about, after all?

more than a motorcycle hi hi!
see it in real life it's not bad (there's better) i've ridden the becane on circuit (damn she's got the guts! and on the road it's fine!!!
160 and more debrided! a good bike for a beginner or experienced rider :

Holy cow, it's beautiful! Well, since someone's talking about "neo-retro", maybe I like it because I'm an old biker (never)! But I've always loved bikes with an engine, two wheels, handlebars and as little mess as possible on them. There's been one every era, and this one will (I hope) be part of the 2006 vintage. Bravo, Spaniards, if you bring it out, no kidding, I'll buy it! There's at least one advantage to being old: you're less broke than when you were young! Rating : 5/5

i think this becane is excellent, how can it be compared to a trail? for once a brand is bringing out a single-track vehicle and what's more a european brand...I could see myself on it but with a pair of bracelets. well done derbi!!!!

it's true that the style can't leave you indifferent. i like it, but its performance isn't as good as a ktm or a yam. too bad Rating : 5/5

Super beautiful! 7000 euros is unfortunately expensive for a mono, but it's almost the price of the 660 xtx. It's the second neo retro scrambler after the Voxan. Rating : 5/5

In the road-qualified trials style, and outside the well-represented 125 category, Yam has released the 250 Tricker, which looks nice but which they didn't dare import into France.
So, between "I think it's pretty cool" and putting 8,000 euros into it, it's 2. Plus, this version is still a selfish bike... when it could have been the perfect opportunity for 2 people to get away from it all on little country lanes, go to the seaside etc...

Very ugly motorcycle!!!! Plus it's a good little calf with its 660 xtx engine. Better a good KTM 660 Rating : 5/5
French Model 2006
I find it very original. It doesn't look like any other, it's got modern lines, but the exhaust tailpipe in the crotch isn't great. It's worth a try, but I like the concept. Rating : 5/5
Totally disagree with Thor!!! I love the aesthetics of the machine (except the exhaust) stripped and high-tech . I love the idea of the Gromono and the 660 of the XT is a very good base. 10-15kg less would have been a plus. Especially as the bike looks small. Where did they put 160Kg? Rating : 5/5
French Model 2006
I find this bike abominable... I've also noticed that Derbi is content to take its engines from others, which isn't much of a merit... A little more work on the lines would be better, the pots are very ugly, so to speak, and well, a mono on there, that's what... I wouldn't classify this bike in any category, because it's a bit of a mess... Rating : 5/5
