presentation of the Scrambler 800 Full Throttle 2023

The Scrambler Full Throttle had disappeared from the Ducati catalog for a good couple of years. The Next Gen evolution of the family allows it to return and then some: of the fifteen or so variations the 800 Scrambler has seen since 2015, only three have survived. The icon, the Nightshift, and the most rebellious of the bunch.

The Full Throtlle has always championed a flat-track inspiration. This is clearly demonstrated by the number plate under the saddle. The big 62 refers to the year the first Scrambler was released.
Like its predecessor, the Full Throttle gives the engine a little more presence with a Termignoni exhaust. Too bad it's no longer the provocative, sporty double muffler of the previous generation.

Let's also take a look at the effort he's made to hide the huge, unsightly throttle plenum. Not easy to cope with Euro5. Clearly angry, this version of the Scrambler also stands out with its front fender reduced to a minimum, a clean rear end, Ducati Performance turn signals, an aluminum engine cover, lowered handlebars with variable cross-section, a dedicated seat and the addition of the Up&Down shifter as standard.

This generation of Full Throttle also relies on the family's general improvements to continue its appeal. The face has been given a more cheeky look, with a large X overhanging the LED headlight. Design is an essential element of this bike. The rear headlight, radiator scoops, steel fuel tank with interchangeable covers, belt guard finish and crankcase stamp have all been redesigned along these lines.

Compteur TFT du Ducati 800 Scrambler Next-genin Bologna, a lot of work was done to make the machine lighter. 4 kilos have been shed, thanks in particular to the redesigned frame and swingarm. The twin has lost 2.5 kilos and still develops 73 horsepower. It is now supported by two riding modes (Road and Wet) and a 4-step traction control (which can be deactivated). Still on the electronics side, the instrumentation changes dimension with a 4.3-inch color TFT display, which Ducati has made a little cheap with a decorative ring to recall the Scrambler's retro feel.

For the chassis, the 41 mm Kayaba inverted fork, central shock absorber (which was offset on earlier Scramblers) and brakes are identical to those on the Icon. The ABS is cornering and watches over each disc (one per wheel); a large 330 mm one at the front with Brembo monobloc pistons to tighten it, and a 245 mm one at the rear.

It was there at the start of the Scrambler renaissance; it's there again in the Next Gen. The Full Throttle is the spiciest of the range. No major upheavals in this new chapter, but the endearing character of one of the Italian brand's most mischievous machines remains as strong as ever...
