That's the philosophy behind this bike. The Ducati Desmo450 MX has made a very successful entry into the motocross sector. A powerful engine without being brutal, proven overall efficiency, electronics on par with the Borgo Panigale sports bikes, the lightness of a 250 and disconcerting ease for a 4.5 – the reds have done a good job.

As with its sport bikes, which have more racy versions, Ducati offers a more advanced version of the MX for high-level enthusiasts. It's called Factory, a name that is meaningful and very revealing. Does it want to compete in the championship? In any case, it's equipped to take on the terrain with gusto.

In addition to the racing-style graphics, one of the first things you notice is the Showa inverted fork. Like the rear shock absorber, it has a Dark Kashima (titanium oxide) surface treatment to increase surface hardness by 60% and reduce friction by 10%.
To hold the front end, new Ergal triple clamps offer greater rigidity and weigh 200 grams less.

More engine power

The brakes are still a Brembo/Galfer combination. On the factory model, the front disc has added protection. In the same spirit of preservation, a carbon engine guard is fitted under the belly. And for better breathing, an Akrapovic exhaust is fitted as standard. Made entirely of titanium, it shaves off 1.7 kg (with the addition of accessories, the total weight of the machine is reduced by only 0.8 kg, to 204 kg). It also gives the engine a wider torque range and more punch at high revs.

The Desmo450 MX Factory also features the Ducati Com-Link Wi-Fi module for configuring the electronics and taking advantage of a telemetry system, the Holeshot Device on the fork for better starts, an RK MXU chain (the same as on the factory bike), and enough power to deliver big performance with its 63.5 horsepower desmodromic mono engine.

The Factory costs €2,100 more than the standard Desmo450 MX, which is slightly more than its designated rival, the KTM SX-F 450 Factory Edition.
