That’s the philosophy behind this bike. The Ducati Desmo450 MX has made a very successful entry into the motocross scene. A powerful yet refined engine, proven overall efficiency, electronics on par with Borgo Panigale’s sport bikes, the lightness of a 250, and a surprising ease of handling for a 4.5—the Italians have done a great job.

As with its sport bikes that come in more high-performance variants, Ducati offers a more refined version of the MX for top-level riders. It’s called the Factory—a name that carries deep meaning and speaks volumes. Is it aiming for championship competition? In any case, it’s equipped to tackle the roughest terrain head-on.

In addition to the racing-style graphics, one of the first things you notice is the treatment of the Showa inverted fork. Like the rear shock absorber, it features a Dark Kashima (titanium oxide) surface treatment to increase surface hardness by 60% and reduce friction by 10%.
To keep the front end stable, new Ergal triple clamps offer greater rigidity and save 200 grams.

More engine protection

The brakes are still a Brembo/Galfer combination. On the Factory model, the front disc now features a guard. In the same spirit of protection, a carbon engine guard is mounted under the belly pan. And for better breathing, an Akrapovic exhaust is standard. Made entirely of titanium, it shaves off 1.7 kg (with the addition of accessories, the bike’s total weight drops by only 0.8 kg, to 204 kg). It also gives the engine a wider torque band and more punch at high RPMs.

The Desmo450 MX Factory also comes equipped with:

• The Ducati Com-Link Wi-Fi module, for configuring the electronics, accessing a telemetry system, and utilizing a predictive maintenance system
• The Holeshot Device on the fork for better starts
• An RK MXU chain (the same as on the factory bike)
• And everything you need to really go all out with its 63.5-horsepower desmodromic single-cylinder engine.

A Few Extra Features in 2027

Like the standard Desmo450 MX, the factory version gets a few tweaks: a 51-tooth sprocket, redesigned gearshift and brake pedal knobs for better ergonomics, a wider fuel cap (40 mm) for faster refueling, and new Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tires. Numerous components have also been updated and reinforced—from the starter pinion to the water pump oil seal, including the exhaust manifold, fork slat guards, and engine mounts—to further enhance robustness, reliability, and durability.

The Factory model costs 2,200 euros more than the Desmo450 MX, which is slightly more than a KTM SX-F 450 Factory Edition, its designated rival.
