presentation of the SportClassic 1000 GT 2009

this is the least sporty of the SportClassics, but not the most uninteresting. A simple, classy bike that's great fun to ride. With its high handlebars, good seat and available engine, the GT lives up to its name. It's the ideal link between the Monster and the ST. Its inspiration comes from the 1970 750 GT. It differs from other SportClassics by adopting handlebars instead of wristbands, a different fuel tank and exhaust, a two-seater seat, 2 side shocks and many other small details. Its air-cooled, twin-valve Desmo engine is a perfect fit. Available, very Ducati-smooth and never lazy, the twin is always ready to get things moving, climbing to the edge of the red zone without apprehension. Suspension (a little firm, though) and braking are on the same wavelength, ensuring that this moderno-classic behaves in a most agreeable manner. Only the tires leave a bit of bitterness in the mix - too wide, too round, they don't allow the GT 1000 to express all its liveliness. A model that's certainly more versatile than its predecessors. The rebirth of Ducati models of yesteryear haunts you, but the GT leaves you speechless... Take a look at the Sport or the Paul Smart.

I bought this motorcycle because I think it's beautiful.
The engine is fantastic, with plenty of torque, and it picks up speed even below 3000 rpm. It's really nice when coming out of a turn.
The original steel rims with inner tubes create a certain amount of inertia when changing angles. Once equipped with 999 aluminum rims and good tires, it's transformed. It becomes much more responsive. It's a real pleasure to ride it on winding roads. The ground clearance is more than adequate.
The brakes aren't very responsive. For me, they're fine even when riding fast, but you have to pull hard on the lever. If you want to improve them, 999 calipers with 1200 MTS discs will solve the problem. The rear brake works, which is not very common on Ducatis.
But this is a bike you ride fast and use the engine brake a lot.
Many owners complain about the original suspension, but for me it's part of the charm of this Ducati. If you want comfort, buy a BMW.
It's a really fun bike and I never get tired of it.

I tried out the 1000 GT with the gel seat and non-approved Termignoni, and frankly, it's a super Ducat despite a look that may put some people off, the engine pulses very well, the handling is very good despite the rather low-range suspensions with no front and rear rebound and compression settings, and the rear amortos on poor surfaces are quite hard on the lower back, the riding position is nice for cruising and attacking, but for long trips at over 130 km/h, it's hard on the neck. As for the brakes, it's the first time they've braked from the rear, which is usually just a retarder on Ducats, but they brake really well at the front, where there's no brake or you have to pull hard on the lever, with disappointing results, so be careful when braking hard, use the rear as much as possible, the gel seat is very comfortable, for the Termignoni it's not too bad but it's not the best, it's better to use something else, at 10,000 euros it's a very expensive bike considering the equipment, what's more, if you add the gel seat and good-sounding exhausts, it's a real drain on the bank account. In my opinion, it's sold for 2000 euros too much, which is a pity, otherwise I'd have bought it straight after the test ride. But if you're just starting out on a Ducat, it's still a very good choice. Rating : 5/5

Aren't the true heirs to the Ducats of the '70s the super sports and sport tourers? I understand that Ducati is exploiting nostalgia on a commercial level, but what other interest is there when the brand still exists with current models featuring traditional characteristics? Rating : 5/5
French berto Model 2006
she has everything of her big sister from 1970: spoked rims two shock absorbers two exhausts big handlebars... I would love her I think if she looks as good as in the picture... 52 years old and owned more than 35 machines. already 3 ducats in my garage... welcome to you... beautiful "oldtimer".. Rating : 5/5
French guigui Model 2006
here again, it's a pleasure, it's beautiful, it vibrates, a real seat, a usable engine, with torque, that's what you expect from a motorcycle. And that's probably what's going to make me (along with other current products) decide to take my driving test. Rating : 5/5
