presentation of the 1200 Monster S 2015
the big Monster has greatly evolved in 2014. The design is as striking as ever, with an overflowing mechanical part, cutting-edge technology from start to finish, the abandonment of air cooling to intoxicate with a boiling block of watts, and a dual version to satisfy enthusiasts and sportsmen alike.
as a rule, the Monster S is distinguished by its Öhlins suspension set-up. This is still the case for this 1200. The bonus comes from the difference in power: 10 hp. The base 1200 Monster spits out 135 bhp at 8,750 rpm - the S climbs to 145 at the same revs. That's a lot of horsepower for a roadster with character. It thus recaptures the spirit and even outclasses the old S4Rs from which it clearly draws its inspiration. Torque is also up, at 12.7 mkg at 7,250 rpm. Will the Monster 1200 S cannibalize the same manufacturer's Streetfighter? The 1098 SF has disappeared from the catalog, and only the 848 remains. Unless, of course, the Monster 1200 is Ducati's new muscular roadster spearhead, and a new, extremely nervous 1199-based Streetfighter is in the pipeline. Speculation or anticipation?
speaking of the 1199, the Monster 1200 takes its inspiration from it for its chassis. A tubular steel trellis-type frame end is anchored directly to the twin's cylinder heads. Its torsional strength is double that of previous Monster models. With its S shape, the machine raises the "sportometer". The 48 mm Öhlins fork is fully adjustable, as is the monoshock from the same manufacturer. Braking is directly inspired by the 1199 Panigale: 330 mm brake rollers with Brembo M50 calipers. Bosch 9MP 3-stage ABS is standard.
full of technology, the 1200 Monster S offers the same 3 riding modes as the standard model, the only difference being the number of watts in Touring and Sport modes
- Urban / 100 hp, with "Low" electronic throttle, stronger DTC intervention and Level 3 ABS for maximum braking stability, set to prevent rear-wheel lift.
- Touring / 145 hp, (106 in French version), with "Medium" electronic throttle, more intrusive traction control and Level 2 ABS and rear wheel lift protection.
- Sport / 145 hp, with "High" electronic throttle for maximum throttle sensitivity, reduced traction control and ABS intervention without rear-wheel lift.
halogen + LED lighting, height-adjustable seat (810 or 785 mm), traction control, TFT instrument panel, major service interval extended to 30,000 km: the two 1200 Monster bikes share these technical features. The S is entitled to a few more privileges (apart from its suspension, brakes and horsepower gains): red stitching on the seat, magnificent Panigale S-type rims with triple-Y spokes, mufflers hidden in black, and a relatively substantial entry ticket.

I would like to own a DUCATI 1200 Monster S.
We have the right to dream.
Hi everyone. Rating : 5/5 Respond to nounousse
Little by little, I'm discovering the potential and enjoyment of this bike. A real character and a big personality.
Surprised, too, by its very decent comfort. Once the OLHINS suspension settings have been fine-tuned, the comfort/ride compromise is top-notch. And because it's so beautiful... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Monster33
as for the rest, this bike is a joy, as long as you've found room for your feet and installed the complete Termi line, otherwise the valve on the original line is always rubbing Rating : 5/5 Respond to dsf
The engine is great, full all round, usable but with lots of good lumps in it, and for the soundtrack, no need for Termignoni...!
The chassis is likewise agile, sound, not too stiff, and comfortable enough for long rides. Ducati was clever enough to fit a steel tank, great for magnetic panniers.
In short, a great all-round bike. Only the engine and footrests are a bit of an eyesore, in my opinion.
A 1200 SS with fairing would be perfection for me.... Rating : 4/5 Respond to Le Pat
As this is my 15th bike, I can say that it's a real character bike, true to the "monster" lineage, with a big engine, exemplary rigidity and a cycle part of the Panigale!
The dry clutch has been replaced by a standard clutch for greater riding pleasure. Agile in the pifs pafs, it takes care of itself in curves, and its olhins perform their role perfectly on all surfaces.
In short: I RECOMMEND IT!
