presentation of the SCRAMBLER 800 Street Classic 2018
In 2018, a new model joins the already extensive Ducati Scrambler family. And the Bologna-based firm would be wrong to deprive itself, given that its toy has transformed the neo-retro craze into a veritable success story (and cash-machine). The Ducati Scrambler has literally become a brand within a brand. It has to be said that the little roadster is not lacking in charm, with its fun-loving, bubbly look and refreshing simplicity imbued with seventies nostalgia.
this new "Street Classic" version is the urban counterpart to the naughty Scrambler Classic. Darker, it comes in a Volcano Grey color that undermines its jovial side in a monochrome blend. Served with an espresso ristretto, it's no less enticing in its nightwear. For it retains all the best attributes of the Classic. Spoked wheels, aluminum tank sides with tribute logo, specific Pirelli Dual Sport tires.
But it also brings a few special features. In addition to its dedicated color scheme, the Street Classic features the engine packaging already used on the Scrambler Café Racer. These include black anodized cylinder heads and milled cooling fins. The thick vintage seat turns from brown to ebony, but retains its attractive aged look. The aluminum mudguards of the Classic disappear in favor of the more consensual equipment of the Icon and Mach 2.0 versions. Ditto for the plate holder, which is now back in place on the swingarm.
as for the rest, you'll find all the pep of the old air-cooled, two-valve-per-cylinder Desmo. A 73-hp mill that won't make your eyes glaze over. But its fun-loving character, transposed into this simple, fun machine, will make you rediscover the pleasure of old-fashioned riding. And offer you a suspended interlude in the old world, where everything was slower, less complex, less stressful....and less expensive! Because despite Ducati's stated desire to promote classicism and simplicity, Ducati is still Ducati... and the bill is slightly steep.
