Monstrous custom or calculated violence for America? Certainly both for this surprising bike. The XDiavel isn't just an overpowered power cruiser; it's also a demonstration of new realities for Ducati.

In 2021, the XDiavel has gained watts while passing standards. It now boasts 160 hp, 70% more than a vengeful Harley 114 Breakout. In addition to its demonic build, its personality leans towards the "Fast & Furious" in this Black Star version.

Positioned just above the S. The cosmetic effect plays the main role, with hints of gray wanting to conquer the reservoir. A red border divides the territory, then this color escapes to find support on the cylinder head covers of the big 1262 cm3 twin. You'd think the 13 mkg of torque were too hot down there.
The XDiavel Black Star is fitted with new, 2-kilo lighter, forged aluminum rims. This brings its weight down to the same level as the Dark model, i.e. 247 kg ready to ride.

The big X on the engine cowling is a reminder that this Ducati is a crossroads, a convergence of ideas, a blend of genres. But above all, it's a Ducati custom, a cannonball powered by a growling engine with the attitude of a bad-boy cruiser.

the equipment matches the fever. The trellis half-frame holds a fully adjustable 50 mm-diameter inverted fork with DLC coating. The variable-valve-timing twin-cylinder is linked to the single-arm by a fully adjustable rear shock absorber. Brembo M50 4-piston front calipers, crunching 320 mm discs, are the brakes most in demand. Although the contrast between tire sizes is as marked as on American models (120 at the front and 240 at the rear), this doesn't prevent the XDiavel from being far more alert than other machines in its segment.

Once you've settled into the Black Star's special saddle, covered in a suede fabric with superior grip, the rider's wishes will be supported by a good dose of on-board electronics: 3 riding modes (Sport / Touring / Urban), traction control, stop-start assistant, inertial reference system, cornering ABS and cruise control.... and an extra plastering for style and comfort, with hands-free starting, a daytime light signature, a 3.5-inch color TFT instrument panel with a small window on the handlebars for control icons , backlit switches and a multimedia system via Bluetooth + smartphone.

A more polished version of the XDiavel S, the Black Star should logically be positioned a hair more expensive. Instead, it punches just a little less than its brother. Too bad this version has lost the milled finish of the belt guards
