1998 was the year France won its 1st soccer World Cup, Pinochet ended up in jail, Titanic was a smash hit... and in Milwaukee, it was the arrival of its spectacular Road Glide. An imposing, heavy road bagger, equipped with a very special fork head, the famous "Shark Nose". Today, it's hard to imagine the Harley range without this model.

another revolution arrived in 2023. The company shook up its microcosm by presenting a CVO Road Glide carrying the new identity of this FLTR family. A total, futuristic face-lift. The Shark Nose adopts a stealthy spaceship look, while reducing turbulence by an average of 60%.

Just a little time to get the public used to it... Now the Road Glide can move downmarket and offer its services to a wider clientele. But even if it jumps from Custom Vehicle Operations to standard models, the Road Glide still has plenty to impress.

starting with the engine. It wants a huge twin, with so much fat and power that a sumo wrestler would envy it. That's why the creators installed the 117 version of the M8 engine, almost identical to the one found in the recent Road Glide ST. 1923 cm3 of America and gargle, with 17.8 mkg of torque at 3,500 rpm. Power peaks at 107 hp at 5,020 rpm. But the urge to go for that max will soon be outweighed by the generous muscle in the mid-range.
Since the ST, the Road Glide has gained 4 hp and 7 Nm. The difference is even more impressive since the Road Glide Special and its 114 ci: 14 bhp and 17 Nm.
A lot of heat, too. That's why Harley opted to install liquid cooling on the cylinder heads.

this was the decade in which H-D Touring discovered riding aids. The new Road Glide boasts everything the brand has to offer: 4 riding modes (Road / Sport / Rain / Custom), tire pressure control, hill-start assist, and cornering management with ABS, traction control, front/rear interconnected braking and residual torque control (engine torque management anti-dribble).

next, the new generation Street Glide / Road Glide introduced the new Skyline infotainment system. As with the engine, it's all about the big picture. It starts with a huge 12.3-inch color TFT touchscreen, as wide as a toaster, replacing all the on-board dials in favor of a richer, more modern interface, though purists will find it "colder".
With the Skyline, the rider can escape from the melody of the "Big Block" to plot a route with the GPS, make a phone call, listen to the radio or his playlists via a sound system consisting of a 200-watt amp and two 50-watt speakers, plug in his smartphone and/or USB key, chat with the passenger via intercom or simply let the virtual hands fly. The days of the cassette radio on the first Road Glide are long gone.

Harley-Davidson has also reworked a number of elements, albeit less spectacularly: the fuel tank, the center console, the handlebar height, the taillights, the saddle and the panniers - these will allow you to carry 69 liters of bric-a-brac.
More determined than ever to cross the States of Uncle Sam, the 117 Road Glide's only competition is its Street Glide sibling, at the same price and with the same equipment, only with a different face.
