presentation of the 1920 Road Glide Limited FLTRXL 2026

The Road Glide Limited was born to challenge the roads: may they be longer than its imagination. Whatever the generation, this big, fat American tourer dreams only of travel. So much so that its heart grows, overflows, and devours cubic centimeters. Now, its silhouette is finally imprinted with the stellar style initiated in 2023.

A super Road Glide

The Limited uses the Road Glide "bagger" as its base and adds a series of features to offer more comfort and protection. Technically, it's a Road Glide with the Tour-Pak (new generation), fairing sides, crash bars, a taller windshield, different rims, additional footrests, and a better seat for the passenger—or a Street Glide Limited that swaps its Batwing fork head for an imposing Shark Nose. Road Glide and Street Glide have always spent their lives promoting a different face on the same body.

The change from one generation to the next gives a much better understanding of the evolution of this dynasty. The previous Road Glide Limited ended its career in 2024. That's not so long ago, and yet it looks very dated compared to its descendant. The space-age headlight, angular lower fairing, and lighter fender give it a much more modern look. This is even more striking when you're behind the handlebars, where the huge 12.3-inch Skyline screen takes the Road Glide Limited into another dimension: fully digital. It's a sleek environment that contrasts sharply with the outdated layout of the dual speedometer topped by the Boom Box system.

This breath of modernity is also evident in the powertrain. Harley shocks with restraint. The large air-cooled twin (with a little water for the cylinder heads) has been retained, preserving the heritage and image of the bike, but the displacement has been increased, variable valve timing added, the intake and exhaust optimized, the alternator capacity increased, and the V angle set at 45°.

The result is striking: this tourer goes from 87 horsepower to 107. With 14% more power, the twin is in great shape. And it adds a good dose of torque with 17.8 mkg in the arms; the 114 block delivered 16.3.
Excessive displacement is almost a mantra at Harley. It makes you wonder if Kawasaki wasn't ahead of its time with its VN 2000, its enormous engine, and its performance figures almost identical to those of the American Milwaukee-Eight.

Small changes under the skin and at the heart

Although it's anecdotal on a machine weighing over 400 kg, it's worth noting the effort made to reduce the weight by 5.9 kg. The rear suspension is more comfortable with the addition of a dial in front of the left pannier for adjusting the preload, and more effective with Showa emulsion technology on both shock absorbers instead of just one onthe old Road Glide (incredible stinginess on a bike that cost $34,000).

The electronics have been upgraded with a large TFT screen, but there are no upgrades to report on the riding aids. Why would there be, given the already impressive array of features? Between the throttle and the rear wheel, the work will be supervised by four riding modes (Road/Sport/Rain/Customizable), angle-sensitive traction and engine torque control, cornering ABS, interconnected front/rear braking, hill start assist, and tire pressure monitoring.

The road at all costs

Let them do their job, hit the road, and rock the asphalt with the roar of the twin-cylinder engine or the 200-watt Rockford Fosgate sound system blasting through four speakers. The onboard system features Bluetooth connectivity for pairing your phone, Wi-Fi for updates, a GPS navigator, voice recognition, and of course all the onboard information (speed, fuel, trip, RPM, etc.).

It's a new lease on life for the Road Glide Limited. Redesigned, revitalized, high-tech, and proud, it's only meant to tackle endless roads or its sister, the Street Glide Limited. Of course, it comes at a high price, but that's the American spirit.
