presentation of the 1690 DYNA STREET BOB FXDB 2016

after a slight refresh in 2013, the Street Bob finally gained the big 103 ci twin in 2014. The little evoke of 2013 (a few extra touches of black on the fork tees, engine, fork sleeves and battery compartment - a saw cut on the rear fender, a revised LED light and a vibration-reducing handlebar mount) is sensibly complemented by a good torque boost with the 1690.

keeping the essentials and getting rid of the superfluous to enjoy the Twin Cam as an egoist - that's the declared aim of the Street Bob. In the '50s, Harley riders kept only the bare essentials on their machines and rode with their hair blowing in the wind. The FXDB is inspired by this "Bobber" trend, with "Ape Hanger" handlebars, a very low solo seat (the passenger is excluded, as his seat and footrests have disappeared), indicators placed under the controls, spoked wheels and a wraparound rear mudguard.

like all Dyna models since 2006, the Twin Cam is housed in a revised frame. The clutch is smoother and the fork diameter has been increased to 49 mm. The pleasure is all the greater with the 103 ci, whose 13.2 mkg of maximum torque are available at 3,000 rpm.
With its tall handlebars and respectable size, the Street Bob doesn't look easy to ride. Oh surprise, it's the opposite that awaits the rider. The machine is easy to ride, and allows you to have fun right up to the limit of your angle of attack. It rubs quickly, and braking, while not catastrophic, proves sufficient. Rebellious right down to the chrome, the Street Bob is the gateway to the Dyna family, with a price tag of €14,530. Harley didn't add much in the way of equipment to announce such a price. In fact, that's the whole point. In addition to its stripped-down identity, the Street Bob offers another advantage: an excellent base for customizing this Dyna to your heart's content.

French Sardine Model 2017
Hello,

No comments for 2 years ?
That's a shame, because it's a great help when buying...

Let's go...
It's been several months since I picked up this machine, a relatively expensive 2-year old occaz. Yes, it's HD, second-hand prices are still high. On the one hand, it's a pain, but on the other, it's worth it on resale, since prices tend to have a minimum threshold.

This is my 4th HD in 9 years, after a 2008 fatbob, 2009 RoadKing and 2011 Deluxe, each with its own charm.

The stop on the 2017 model is no joke: it leaves a huge choice of aftermarket parts (Drag, Zodiac, V-twin or others). The recent switch in 2018 from Street Bob to softail limits this choice, and HD options are 2x, 3x more expensive.
If you go with the brand, buy HD parts second-hand, you'll find everything up to 50% new, and generally in good, even very good condition.

Another huge difference between the 2018 versions is the absence of vibration, whereas the 2017 takes care of you, especially at idle...like it or not, but it doesn't leave you indifferent! Generally speaking, the driver likes it (he chose the model...) and the passenger has mixed feelings ;-).

Engine-wise...what can I say...well, it's big and heavy...and more pleasant after a stage 1 (Vance FP3 Vo2, which takes 15 minutes to do). Fuel consumption 5 to 6 l/100 solo with this configuration.
The brakes are still at the same level as the concept...no need for urgency, just anticipation.
As I'm turning square, I'm not about to touch the footpegs!
Once past 110, we hang on to the handlebars...
the middle controls are finally well positioned, I won't be putting any forward controls, like on my ex-Fatbob
i love that big front wheel, sometimes I even look at it while riding (pfuuu...what a sick bastard...)
Nice duet after amortos adjustment. Changing the amortos...yeah...I did it on the Deluxe and the result is still average considering the investment.
Fuel gauge: 455 km at the start according to the computer (arf arf arf!). in short, we use the daily trip and get panicky after 250km covered...
It's a cushy machine that's quite comfortable overall.
All in all, the Dyna range is a nice one. It's a good compromise between the Spartan Sporster and the increasingly heavy Softail.

This Street Bob is a solo machine, but the Duo is quite feasible, as it can be quickly transformed by choosing "quick-release" options: seat, footrest, sissy and valides.
But BEWARE: HD had the very bad idea of categorizing its model as a TRUE solo for the purposes of registration (1 single seat)
Adding a saddle with strap and footrests isn't enough for insurance purposes: the registration document must also be modified:
1) 50â'¬ HD certificate of conformity after photo of modification by HD dealership: 1 week
2) online procedure (free in my case) through the French administration (ANTS): technical modification within about 1 month.

Why not take a Low Rider if you want to ride a duo?
well yes, why, why ? BECAUSE!

In the hope that this will bring something to those who hesitate to switch to Street Bob.
One last thing for the road before returning to my real life.
10 years ago, I was on my FJR1300 every day of the year, whatever the weather.
After that period and 2 years without a machine, I got back on 2 wheels, but only for pleasure = I go out when I want!
HD was an option and I wasn't a fan of the brand, which is still the case.
These machines have quite a few faults, but whether you like the brand or not, they distill a real pleasure at legal speeds that I've never found on other machines (Indian, Royal and Triumph).
Some faults (not all...) even end up being...er... "appreciated"! É amazing, isn't it?

Faisceau électrique trop court sur Harley Street Bob ?
French Larynge Model 2014
Hello
I own a 2014 street bob
I have a problem of jerking at low rpm.various random breakdowns.
After going to the case it seems that on this model the wiring harness is too short and too well fixed which causes wire breakage
I would like to know if this is true, if others have had the same problem and the solution
Thank you

Foolproof reliability?
a rear wheel bearing that exploded after just 40,000 km (and I'm not the only one)
A rear GB that can't support the weight of the sparto and cracks along it (in less than a year).
Rusting spokes,
A front brake master cylinder that barely leaks after 5000 km.

It's a superb bike, but to say that it's hyper-reliable is no exaggeration (unless you do 3,000 km a year).
