presentation of the WN7 2026
Honda enters the world of electric motorcycles. A risk as much as a strong gesture on the part of the world's leading manufacturer. Long teased under the pseudonym EV Fun Concept, here in electrons and wheels is the WN7. A medium-sized roadster with all the seriousness of Honda and electric pretensions... that you'll have to appreciate.
WN7: a novel type of naming, with the W symbolizing the wind, accompanied by an N for Naked and the number 7 to identify the power category. The Wind Naked 7! Although its appearance and seriousness may make us think of an "electrified" CB 1000, the reality is much further from it.
It's a Honda, no doubt about it. Thoughtful, well-considered shapes, timid originality, impeccable looks... almost everything contributes to identifying it as one of the manufacturer's usual machines. Only the design, combining the technical shortcomings of a battery with a premium spirit, gives it a bittersweet taste.
The neo-sport-coffee CB1000R-style single-armed frame is highly attractive, while the handlebar-mounted mirrors are fashionable without being appropriate. Transparent winglets on the sides accentuate the style. The WN7 needs to stand out without being vulgar.
It features a 5-inch TFT screen, RoadSync multimedia tech, push-button start (Keyless keyless) and a whole stock of riding aids: HSTC torque control, ABS cornering, speed limiter, 4 riding modes*, engine brake equivalence adjustable on 4 levels, and forward and reverse gait limited to 5 km/h.
Surprising watts
Engine-wise, it's not exactly what we expected. Perhaps its false "1000" appearance raised hopes of big watts. We'll have to make do with 18 kW, or just over 24 horsepower in rated power. That's about the same as an R.E. 400 Hymalayan. The WN7, on the other hand, has a much higher peak output of 50 kW. Almost three times as much, and the equivalent of 68 drunks. What a Z 650 S produces, except that...... Torque is far more convincing, with 100 Nm available. Now that's the muscle of a 1000. Honda throws in a few figures with a 0 to 50 km/h time of 3.9 seconds (like a CB 500 Hornet) - the 0 to 100 km/h is more telling, with a time of 4.6 sec.
Top speed is also announced, with a maximum of 129 km/h. Road safety will be delighted. This is the velocity obtained with the 18 kW. But with up to 50 kW available from the electron rotor....
Enough to lift the heart?

In any case, it will have to lift 217 kg. Not insignificant for a mid-size roadster, but well placed for an electric motorcycle. The 9.3 kWh lithium-ion battery will give a range of 140 km, and then there are the charging episodes.
- Either you charge at home on a 6 kW system, and it takes 3 hours to charge to full capacity / or even 5? hours with a conventional socket.
- or... The WN7 is compatible with the CCS2 car charging system, so charging can be increased from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes.
As for the chassis, you'll immediately recognize Honda's quality standards, with a Showa SFF-BP upside-down fork, Nissin 4-piston monobloc radial calipers, 310 mm discs, a superb rear rim in a hyper-sleek environment and a rear monoshock. Transmission is by belt, the most suitable element for electric propulsion. The bike doesn't really have a frame, but uses the battery as a structural element, with aluminum parts to hold the components of the chassis.
A giant takes the electric plunge
Until recently, venturing into electric motorcycling was a foolhardy venture for adventurers without a safety net, or for brands created for the purpose. In the field of small machines, the offer is wide and the solutions interesting for commuters. But when it comes to larger machines, things get complicated.

Zero Motorcycles seems to be doing well, but the brand remains marginal. BMW and Triumph have been working on them, but haven't taken the plunge to market, Kawasaki is trying out several solutions (Elec', hybrid, hydrogen), but the Z-E1 and Ninja-E1 are struggling to convince, Harley felt the impact with the LiveWire... The historic manufacturers are struggling for lack of a technological leap forward.
Now it's Honda's turn to take the plunge, with a motorcycle that exudes pragmatism and the will to convince. The solutions are not miraculous, the power modest and the range limited... at first sight. Let's give it the benefit of the doubt, since its creators are keen to defend the technological values that are the pride of the winged crest.
Note that the WN7 can be limited to 11 kW, making it accessible to A1 license holders.
