presentation of the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype 2026
When Honda unveiled its V3 compressor engine at EICMA 2024, the media, the networks and the public went wild. With its virtually unprecedented engine architecture, compactness, technical features and the expectation of another dimension of power, this mechanical teaser set the motorcycling world alight.
A year later, Honda is keeping the melting pot alive with this V3R 900 E-Compressor prototype. Almost ready to roll, this is the first machine to be equipped with this powerplant, and it promises to be a great success.
It's going to be a roadster, with all the attributes of Honda's big thugs. The camouflage doesn't allow us to really grasp the final design, but the template is there, powerful, menacing, with strong asymmetrical shoulders to gobble up air and face the front. The large inverted fork and single-sided arm are reminiscent of the CB1000R. On the other hand, the minimalist tubular steel trellis frame is unprecedented. The 3-cylinder is exposed to the open air, as if to cool it down. Clearly, it's going to get hot in there.
The engine to travel into the future
Honda had already experimented with the V3 on the NS400R in the '80s. Today, only the cylinder layout is comparable. This block features a 75° angle between the cylinders, two of which face forward. Displacement will be 900 cm3. A volume that's already very interesting. Look how much fun you can have with Yamaha's 890 cm3 CP3, or the exhilarating character of the 931 cm3 boiler on the MV-Agusta Enduro Veloce.
But here, the air will be under pressure. Honda will be the first manufacturer in the world to install an electric compressor on a motorcycle. Kawasaki already pressurizes the engine of its H2s ( Ninja H2, H2R, H2 SX, Z H2), but with a mechanical system. So it depends on engine speed. Honda's technology will enable the Garrett compressor to start up almost instantaneously, to be independent of rpm, and to benefit from very precise control of its action. Basically, it can blow hard from low revs and modulate this blow continuously.

Honda has given no indication of the horsepower or torque delivered by the compressed V3. Just this: " performance comparable to that of a 1200 cm3 engine ". That alone is enough to send your imagination into a tailspin. A Ducati Streetfighter V4 1100 exceeds 200 hp / The VFR 1200 released 13.1 mkg / The torque of a Z H2 roadster reaches 14 mkg with 998 cm3 and its supercharger. Let's go crazy and conjure up a Honda hyperfighter with 180 hp, 13 mkg, a dozen of which are available around 2,000 or 3,000 rpm, and a red zone perched above 17,000 rpm. All this with a 900 *. Surreal, isn't it! And yet conceivable with this V3 E-Compressor.
Programmed explosion?
This roadster could atomize absolutely everything on the road right from the start. But let's come back down to earth, because apart from its displacement, the presence of the compressor and the number of cylinders, we know nothing about this powerplant. We'll have to wait and see what volcano lies beneath. One thing's for sure, though, and that's that it's going to take sensations to a whole new level.
