Motorcycle specifications HondaCBR 1000 F 1996 Travel companion

The CBR 1000 F opened up new horizons of fast travel. Although its fairing wasn't to everyone's liking when it first came out, the full cladding gave the bike a certain class as well as a distinctive style. Technologically, it introduced the CBS braking system, which couples front and rear calipers, bringing real efficiency. Although CBR is more synonymous with sport in the motorcycle world, the 1000 is above all an efficient sport-GT, a niche to which it has made a major contribution. The machine has been designed to go far, fast and long, as evidenced by the remarkable build quality and assembly of its components. There's plenty of comfort, the suspension is supple, the passenger is made to feel welcome, and the saddle makes you feel at home. The CBR's biggest flaw is that it's too tame: the engine is powerful but lacks depth, like a dish lacking salt and pepper. Despite the overall balance, the weight commands respect, favoring a smooth, winding ride. Clearly, it's better to ride than to play! Yet it's easy to handle, holds the floor very well, and could easily be compared to the 800 VFR, so similar is its performance. It's less sporty, more torquey and more affordable.

If your engine starts noising on the distributor side, it's a sign that you absolutely must change the engine oil! on all 5 there was the same problem!
Finally, used and cheap, it's a good bike, plus lots of fairing and other parts, even used, so... be warned! Rating : 4/5 Respond to biman
Versatile machine, comfortable, good protection for tall people, reliable and very reasonable fuel consumption,
The previous one was resold at 86,000 kms and ran perfectly, with the original timing gear making a slight noise
I recommend

i've just done my first 200 km with half road half country half freeway. duo route so each will have its uses. if any of you have a 4 in 1 DEVIL, don't hesitate to write to me, I'd love to hear from you! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Biscotte
What happiness! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Gouloun
around 90mkm I change the clutch, then around 110 mk it's the timing
For the first time on a CBR, I'm going to change my jts spy fork (9.95€+15 € oil). it must be said that this one is past 30 this year, unlike the 2 others I sold before they were 25
So yes, of course it's a very reliable and inexpensive bike. It's a bit heavy at low speeds, but easy to handle after that. 6.5 to 7 l maximum fuel consumption is good
In the free version, it's over 130 hp, so it's a real handful
I've got a Yoshimura 4-in-1, with the bewitching sound of a 90's sports bike, even if on long journeys, anti-noise protectors are recommended for more "other era" comfort. The first one had a Devil 4-in-2, with a very nice sound but lesser performance, I think
Should I sell it? NO or to buy the same one, I've only been riding a 1000 CBRF for 28 years §
I've had a bit of everything in motorcycles (28 in total, not counting the 3 CBRFs) and my heart still goes out to this bike, which I consider to be exceptional in terms of build quality, materials, and its versatility on the road, half sport/half Gt
It shares the garage with a 1500 Honda Bobber, and it's the only one that gives me another pleasure: "the pleasure of riding quietly, but with a monster". Paradoxical, but after 50 years and currently, speed isn't Charly!
I'll leave you to it, I've got fork spy seals to change
Finally something to do on them! Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
I know I'm not on the forum, but I'd like to ask you a question, because I have a recurring problem on my cbrf
On acceleration, it chokes, but by putting the strater I can accelerate as I want ...?
If a sensitive soul could inform me. THANK YOU all. Rating : 5/5 Respond to hennebont56

Although I used to own a 900 Ninja that weighed about the same as the 1994 CBR 1000 I'm currently riding, this one seems much heavier. It's very good as a duo, with an excellent engine, but in town, at very low speeds, I don't feel as comfortable as with the Ninja. Is the VFR 800 more "agile"? Thanks, if anyone can answer. A clicking noise when cold then disappears when hot is it the timing chain? Rating : 5/5 Respond to chino
A question !!!
how do you maintain this bike?
I mean especially at the parts level
Example: Diaphragm, valve, timing chain, various filters, electrical parts (coil)......
New parts are no longer available
Do we have to dismantle them on a used engine or do you have another solution???

i'm very happy with my granny, the legendary HONDA reliability, she always starts, she's still in good health, she holds the floor, in short she gives me my dose of motorcycling pleasure, plus she doesn't stand out in the motorcycling landscape
following a slip, i damaged the small removable shell in the fairing gill. i've searched on spare parts sites without success
please can someone point me to a map where i can find this part. thank you

76,000 km and unbridled, quite heavy for sporty riding, you have to deharness a bit, otherwise linear engine but when you pass 6,000 rpm it pushes enough, correct braking, good use of engine brake, fuel consumption about 6L,I put pilot power ,soon 5000 km and almost on the temoins but great road holding, and you can accelerate hard out of curves,it doesn't move, that's what I think of this bike at a low price(1000 euros) bonne route a tous Rating : 3/5 Respond to FRED42
as administrator of the cbr1000fbelgique forum, I came across your ad. As I have French members, I think your ad might be of interest to them. Could you tell me if this ad is still valid and if so what parts would be available. En vous remerciant.Michael Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation
No worries, it has only 52,000 km (I drive very little, alas!) and I've been reluctant to part with it for years, so simple, reliable, comfortable and powerful is it. Yes, it's heavy in tight bends, but that calms the big temptations... and when you decide to go heavy on the trendy roadsters, the "oldie" is up to the challenge and comes out on top after passing the 3...
i'm selling it at a revised price of just 2800 euros, with the original maintenance booklet, special seat, Remus 4-in-1 (dismantled due to a penalty notice), Ermax bubble and GIVI 45-liter top case with integrated stop... A very good deal!!!

After buying a new CBR 1000 F Dual CBS in 1995, which I sold in 1998 to buy a CBR 900 RR Fireblade (which I still have), I've just bought a CBR 1000 F from the end of '94 with 27,000 real km, identical in color to my previous one, mainly for the duo
In '95, I had tried the CBR 1100 XX without being convinced of its real superiority over the 1000 F in non-sporty use. It's true that in road use, the 1000 F offers better protection and is generally more comfortable than the 1100. Of course, the weight when maneuvering and its sporty turning radius are its main shortcomings (as is the front tire, which wears out on stairs, if I remember correctly), but it's a machine that can eat up kilometers without breaking the bank. Fuel consumption is reasonable for a 1000. The funny thing is that both my CBR 900 and my 1000, both with carburetors, consume less than the CBR 954 or the Triumph 1050 I owned between 2004 and 2008, both with fuel injection. So where is the progress of fuel injection compared to carburetors in this respect?
So I was happy to return to Honda's big, sporty tourer, a bike that's still making a name for itself on the used market. I wish it all the best... and long live the full fairing, which protects the frame so well from rust, and the tank, which cleverly lifts up for easy access to the spark plugs!

I have just bought a 98 cbr1000 with 15000kms in new condition, normal considering the km, but on the other hand it heats up quickly and the fan starts up quickly, for info it's my 3rd cbr AND I ALWAYS LOVE IT. Rating : 5/5 Respond to canjo
I bought a CBR F 1000 model, I brought it back from Perpignan in the pouring rain and the stormy wind, it's true that it holds the road well and that it's a pleasure to ride, the only complaint is the reduced steering angle, especially on roundabouts and small roads, as well as the fuel consumption... Otherwise, it's a real pleasure to drive, despite its heaviness... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Titouan
(on the odometer) but not at breaking point!
it's a great bike, supple, torquey and easy to handle despite its weight. apart from the winding roads of the alpine passes, it goes everywhere
two things: adjust the suspension and pair up the low beams.otherwise, same comment as ghismo. it's not a CBRRRRRRRR..... Rating : 5/5 Respond to kurt
what can i say about all these comments except to confirm that this machine is nothing but happiness. i own two 1000cbrs, one from 1992 ( 145000kms ) the other from 1993 ( 56000kms )

Qualities: comfortable, fast, solid
Faults: heavy, especially for a small man like me (1.68 m, 57 kg). Engine a little linear
As this bike doesn't feature much on the Internet, but is still relevant, I've just created a forum: http://forum.kriko.fr/cbr1000f/

i own a 1000 cbr from 93 47000 kms
it's my 3rd the 2 others resold around 160 000 kms
it's a super machine, the most complete on the whole and above all not old-fashioned
it's the only machine I ride anymore, despite several different machines - 18 in all over 25 years
the only complaint is that honda should never have discontinued this model
@+ et bonne route a tous \/
Rating : 5/5 Respond to jepac03
mine has 60,000 and a small oil leak as well as carburetors to clean..
despite its weight, it's very maneuverable, but not very easy to maneuver (large turning radius)
beware of oil leaks at the crankcase gasket (quite frequent on second-hand bikes)
too often overpriced, but I think it's worth the price. jump on it!
Rating : 5/5 Respond to aerith
It's really a breathtaking machine, the engine is well rounded at all revs... it climbs very, very fast! Watch out for the consoooooooooo... in direct relation to the driving style. Frame and roadholding nothing to complain about, I found it quite lively despite its weight, it needs to be driven, for protection, it's good without more. Combined braking is excellent (front brake with good bite)
To sum up, I'd say it's a good bike, and I have no criticism other than its fuel consumption, which seems high to me if you tickle it a bit

Mine has about 135,000km and had 120,000 when I bought it (paid 10,000frs)
It's unbridled and makes 135 hp. I'd even say it's very stingy in terms of feel (linear engine, but pleasant on long journeys). This engine is nonetheless nice on mountain roads. This bike can still reach 260 km/h fairly quickly
Unfortunately, I've only been riding it a few days a year since I moved house, but it's still great
Otherwise, as far as insurance is concerned, I'm doing very well: only 30 euros per month with axa third-party insurance
Have a nice trip
Rating : 5/5 Respond to savatage
I agree with ghismo all the way, even on the high revs, which add nothing to the riding experience on this bike. On wide, rolling roads, it's on rails, unflappable
It's great!
