Sport touring

at the end of 1996, Honda presented the first machine capable of topping the 300 km/h mark. A minor revolution, for in creating the TGV supercar category, the world's leading manufacturer also unveiled an aesthetic success combined with unprecedented aerodynamicsit also boasted unprecedented aerodynamics (inferior to that of a 250 GP), a super-powered engine that was particularly smooth and torquey, and very (too) well bred: the mechanics offer little feel and no vibration. The chassis is superb: smooth, efficient suspension, highly effective dual-CBS braking, a generous perimeter frame - the Blackbird offers the agility of a 750 while delivering mind-boggling performance. In 1999, it inherited forced-air intake and fuel injection, offering enhanced flexibility and riding pleasure, although protection was too limited, the rider's position a little too sport-oriented and that of the passenger moderately user-friendly. It also saw the emergence of 2 formidable rivals: the Suzuki 1300 GSX-R Hayabusa and the Kawasaki ZX-12 R, boasting even more impressive power figures. But the CBR 1100 XX proves to be almost as efficient, while preserving a certain ease of riding, comfort and homogeneity that its rivals can't boast.

French Model 1998
I owned the 99 model (with fuel injection) for almost a year, right out of the A2. I can confirm everything that's been said: it's a bike that rides like a rail (I even knew how to make the tips of my shoes rub, that's saying something!) But it needs a rider who's phlegmatic and respectful towards it, because it's clearly not to be put in the hands and thighs of the typical rider-gamin, who only feels his c*iulles grow when he's "handle in the corner"!

It's an excellent machine, NOT PUSHING at crime (provided you know how to behave - personally, I've never lost a point on my licence in the three years I've been riding it, in all seasons), which is both playful and easy to handle. Its big problem, like many others of all brands, is its voltage regulator/rectifier. It's still available in 2022, for around fifty euros, but remember to place it further away from the engine, in a well-ventilated area, or even install a small PC fan - it costs nothing and saves lives!
One last thing: a friend of mine fitted it directly, removing the lugs; this avoids micro-disconnections, and hence short-circuits, resulting in (early) system burnout

Finally, it's a mythical motorcycle, very pleasant to ride, not tiring because the position isn't so reclined, protects superbly against bad weather (without doing as well as a car, no kidding!) and if you find the handlebars still too low, you can add bridges to raise them :)

I bought this bike in 2000 and it's 97. I've just had a carburetor syncro and all the fluids changed. I feel like I've gained 30 to 40 magic hp... I really recommend it... Rating : 5/5

I bought this bike when I sold my 2004 r1, it's my 32nd bike and my first honda. Carburetor model from 98, it's an engaging, reliable, comfortable bike (thanks to the comfort seat)
Bought in a lean period for 1300€ with some minor work, it gives me a lot of satisfaction despite a high mileage of 102000kms and on the Facebook page dedicated to it I've seen one with 222222kms so I've still got some margin. Bonne route à tous

i've had it for 8 years (blue in 2 tones) and I can tell you that I wouldn't change it for anything in the world!!!!! whether it's in 2, loaded, it's supper comfortable, sporty, better braking than the abs! (my friend won't deny it, 98 carb mod, 90,000 km, acquired 13 years ago, no worries)I'm looking forward to the same in 1400! Rating : 5/5

it's a remarkable machine, and a beautiful one at that: braking, roadholding, cruising, and breathtaking acceleration...
I only regret that there are no gatherings for this bike in the Paris region
I went to Spain by road, no more tired than if I'd gone by car. I'm planning to visit Portugal this summer and can't wait to go back. leclandesmotards75@yahoo.fr

I've just bought myself a 2001 XX (so injection), with bagster seat and Ermax double-curved bubble. Frankly, it's an excellent bike, with very nice acceleration (even with 100hp), a smooth engine and pleasant torque, and problem-free acceleration from low revs. Doesn't vibrate, very good protection against the wind (I rode it from Normandy to RP, that's 200km from 10:30 pm to 00:30 am with 5° outside), only the hands are absolutely unprotected, too bad. A very pleasant bike to ride, as I'd been told it would be very heavy. I find it very easy to handle! A very good and comfortable two-up, and excellent braking! And what's worse, I'm only 20! (I took my driving test at exactly 18 years of age, which means more than 34 theoretical horsepower...) I recommend this bike, having tested its Suz competitor. It's much more comfortable than the Hayabuza, and the difference in performance doesn't really matter on the road... the XX already has very good performance, which limits the rider more than the machine!
To be recommended to all experienced bikers, because it's a machine not to be put in everyone's hands (I can say that at 20 years of age, but I've got over 160,000km on 2-wheelers under my belt... and 8 years of clubs)

my fiancé had (and yes, I do mean "had") this magnificent machine, and despite all the good things he said about it and my contradictory opinion, he wanted to sell it. Now, after several test rides including the 1300 GSXR, he wants to buy another 1100 XX because he realizes that the braking is unmatched by any other, in addition to all the compliments that can be read in this forum about this beautiful beast. as a passenger myself, I've never wanted any other than this one, because it's true that you could almost sleep while the rider was driving it, despite the many kilometers done during the day. all this to say to you (don't sell it, maintain it, you'll never find anything better). I've had this fighter jet for 6 months, in full power version (carburetor). I'm a real estate agent in the countryside and often use my motorcycle on my rounds. The XX is giant! terrible, powerful... I had a 750 gsxr, and I don't regret it. The XX may not look like much at first glance, but its super-sleek lines would lead you to believe that the machine would be handicapped by its weight: not at all! Quite simply, a rocket. Not to be put in everyone's hands. Can't wait for the 1300. Have a nice trip. Rating : 5/5

i'm lucky enough to be the proud owner of a '95 750 vfr (sprocket cascade: no distribution to do) and a 2002 xx (full power of course)
In my eyes, they're two of Honda's greatest success stories of the last 15 years
As for weight, my wife even refuses to push it into the garage, even though the vfr doesn't frighten her (it's normal, it's hers)
See you on the road !!!!

I've been riding this beast for 2 years now, after a ThunderAce, and I miss the yam's brutality. It's a permit trap because the comfort erases the sensations. Weight remains a major drawback, as does the saddle for my 1m66. The fact remains that I won't be going back to an R1. So far, I've had no information on an SBB1300, but I saw the ZZR1400 at the World Show and my heart is wavering between the two... Rating : 5/5

the CBR XX came out of YAM SERVICE in Blagnac with ACT jets and pipes debrided, plus a Yosh for the noise. The result on the dyno: 150hp at the wheel and super-square curves, the sign of a full engine everywhere. I'd like to believe it. 170 at the bottom of the second and ignition switch....tiens, I didn't know there was one before...I'm going to fit it with a pirelli diablo with a 180 at the rear to gain in maneuverability and I'm going to paint it black with a big license on the side that decomposes into little squares....
All that's left is to find a nice name for it, INTERCEPTOR, DOMINATOR, SARKAUSOR ??? no, I don't want my wife to run away too ????

Coming from a ZZR 1100 whose bestiality I can't recapture, and a V-MAX where I've never been able to find the brakes, I'd say that my '98 CBRXX, bought from Harley in Toulouse for the modest sum of €4500 with 40,000 kilometers on the odometer and in almost new condition, is a compendium of both. I find it holds the road and brakes like hell (thanks to the integral), tripled with the aggressiveness of a wildcat ready to pounce (not on the first radar that comes along). Starting today, it's off to YAM SERVICE in Blagnac (very professional guys) where the in-house wizard will fit the camshafts, pipes and jets to try and break the sound barrier. I'm going to take the opportunity to repaint it in black or carbon, as the original violet-red is getting out of hand.... I'm reluctant to put a pot in it, as for the moment it's 100% original, with all the tank stickers, chain case etc... and I don't want to make too much of a decibel statement

France, Norway and the fjords..........5 years of dreaming with her. She'll always be the best of all my beaks after 31 years of motorcycle passion, but I was always tempted to put the gas pedal to the metal with her. I chose to keep my license for a while longer, and I'm now riding an FJR, less sporty but still super fun, and we can even ride it as a couple! But why do they all want to play the valentino with over-affected bikes. On the road, you need a solid bike, one that weighs down and isn't overpowered, one that rolls along on its own....... i bought my xx 3 years ago, and I've had to battle with a lot of becanes (gsxr 750 2002,gsxr 1000 2005)etc...and well, I can tell you that despite its weight, which is a bit frightening in curves over 280km/h, the supersports stay behind me (or next to me).i put a 16-speed pinion at the gearbox output, which greatly improves acceleration in 5 and 6, at the cost of 15 km/h in top gear, but I must admit that it's rare to come across frapadues who, like me, push their machines to the point of break.TO CONCLUDE, I WOULD SAY THAT THIS CBR COMBINES beauty, safety and performance, all in royal comfort (with a comfortable seat)

I've been riding an XX full power for just over a year now. Before that, I had a GSXE750 and a ZZR600. It's by far the best bike I've ever owned, in terms of looks, finish, power, fun, reliability and comfort. It's stable, maneuverable (once you get used to the weight), torquey and powerful, but without inducing jubilant giddiness. My companion doesn't complain about comfort and even accepts 500km rides at sometimes sustained speeds
To be perfectly to my liking, it lacks a bubble offering better protection, a thinner seat (over long distances, you can get sore reeds), 20kg less weight, and higher handlebars to relax the wrists. In short, if it's a GT sport bike, I'd have liked it a tad more GT.

the cbrXX is a machine in a class of its own! at first glance, you think it's quiet and a bit big, but once you're on it and riding it free, that's when you see all its potential. having been a passenger on it, I can confirm that the passenger seat is comfortable, and unlike the R1 and other gsx-rs (although very successful), you don't look like a toad behind it. My cousin has a complete FRC carbon line in high position with a sober gloss black color, but it looks much better than many sports bikes!!! the only small drawback could be the weight, which over time doesn't reduce or only slightly and therefore starts to be felt in the face of increased competition. When will we see the 1300 cbr XX??? The engineers are talking about it, the magazines are hoping for it, and I'm fantasizing about it!!! a surprise is planned for the winter shows on a new honda model that should delight all brand purists.... The 1300???? if you have any info on the 1300 please leave a comment. Thanks in advance and see you soon. gazzz cots en bandit 600 Rating : 5/5
I've had a Blackbird since the start of this season and I'm more than satisfied with the way this car handles, never failing to deliver. There's nothing to criticize about the overall handling, whether at low or high speed. It goes without saying that you need to be careful with this machine, as the comfort it provides (a permit trap) erases the need for speed. There's no arguing with its looks: it's the most beautiful motorcycle with a fairing. A few minor criticisms are in order, however, concerning the seat, which could be less slippery and better moulded, and the weight, which is not negligible. But the pleasure of riding this jewel never ceases to grow, and I'm convinced that I'm on the way to becoming a fan of future "Blackbirds" Rating : 5/5

Magnificent machine. Over 250,000kms accumulated with four machines. Comfort, power, agility despite its weight. Easier than a Hayabusa. I legally own a Full Power. Powder talks if you're looking for it. HONDA finish, quality materials. Perfect for fast duos. I've had a VFR for 5 months, I'm waiting for my S.BB to be delivered in January. Gas Rating : 5/5

It's a superb machine, efficient and reliable. The quality of the materials used by Honda means that it ages very well, but over long distances the riding position is tiring and can end up being painful for wrists and shoulders. Finally, after 40,000 kms, very slight vibrations appear in the forks, enough to make your fingers tingle. Rating : 5/5
