Motorcycle specifications HondaCBR 1100 XX Super Blackbird 1998 Very high velocity

at the end of 1996, Honda presented the first machine capable of topping the 300 km/h mark. A minor revolution, for in creating the TGV supercar category, the world's leading manufacturer also unveiled an aesthetic success combined with unprecedented aerodynamicsit also boasted unprecedented aerodynamics (inferior to that of a 250 GP), a super-powered engine that was particularly smooth and torquey, and very (too) well bred: the mechanics offer little feel and no vibration. The chassis is superb: smooth, efficient suspension, highly effective dual-CBS braking, a generous perimeter frame - the Blackbird offers the agility of a 750 while delivering mind-boggling performance. In 1999, it inherited forced-air intake and fuel injection, offering enhanced flexibility and riding pleasure, although protection was too limited, the rider's position a little too sport-oriented and that of the passenger moderately user-friendly. It also saw the emergence of 2 formidable rivals: the Suzuki 1300 GSX-R Hayabusa and the Kawasaki ZX-12 R, boasting even more impressive power figures. But the CBR 1100 XX proves to be almost as efficient, while preserving a certain ease of riding, comfort and homogeneity that its rivals can't boast.

It's an excellent machine, NOT PUSHING at crime (provided you know how to behave - personally, I've never lost a point on my licence in the three years I've been riding it, in all seasons), which is both playful and easy to handle. Its big problem, like many others of all brands, is its voltage regulator/rectifier. It's still available in 2022, for around fifty euros, but remember to place it further away from the engine, in a well-ventilated area, or even install a small PC fan - it costs nothing and saves lives!
One last thing: a friend of mine fitted it directly, removing the lugs; this avoids micro-disconnections, and hence short-circuits, resulting in (early) system burnout
Finally, it's a mythical motorcycle, very pleasant to ride, not tiring because the position isn't so reclined, protects superbly against bad weather (without doing as well as a car, no kidding!) and if you find the handlebars still too low, you can add bridges to raise them :) Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jerry
Bought in a lean period for 1300€ with some minor work, it gives me a lot of satisfaction despite a high mileage of 102000kms and on the Facebook page dedicated to it I've seen one with 222222kms so I've still got some margin. Bonne route à tous Rating : 4/5 Respond to Gsxrbob

it's a remarkable machine, and a beautiful one at that: braking, roadholding, cruising, and breathtaking acceleration...
I only regret that there are no gatherings for this bike in the Paris region
I went to Spain by road, no more tired than if I'd gone by car. I'm planning to visit Portugal this summer and can't wait to go back. leclandesmotards75@yahoo.fr Rating : 5/5 Respond to Dane

To be recommended to all experienced bikers, because it's a machine not to be put in everyone's hands (I can say that at 20 years of age, but I've got over 160,000km on 2-wheelers under my belt... and 8 years of clubs) Rating : 5/5 Respond to cornethi

In my eyes, they're two of Honda's greatest success stories of the last 15 years
As for weight, my wife even refuses to push it into the garage, even though the vfr doesn't frighten her (it's normal, it's hers)
See you on the road !!!!

To be perfectly to my liking, it lacks a bubble offering better protection, a thinner seat (over long distances, you can get sore reeds), 20kg less weight, and higher handlebars to relax the wrists. In short, if it's a GT sport bike, I'd have liked it a tad more GT.
