presentation of the VR6 Black Edition 2016
The rebirth of the Horex brand was marked by a fine demonstration of technology with its very distinctive 6-cylinder V and R engine. Time goes by, a few setbacks, a takeover by 3C Carbon Group, a return to the scene, but with a positioning revised even further upwards.
the German roadster intends to do business in the premium, even luxury, segment. And it's working! Given the success of the "Silver" limited series, Horex wasted no time in releasing a new limited edition of the highest pedigree. This time, it's "Black". A definition that quickly brings to mind a noble material: carbon. You'll find it in the mudguards, on the steering column, behind the headlight, under the dashboard's magnificent TFT color display, on the exhaust support, the clutch and alternator housings, and even behind the footrests.
the patina of luxury is also expressed in more delicate elements. Leather is used for the saddle and the Horex logo on the stern. On the Black, the exhausts are raised to clean up the view, with panache - the Silver Edition didn't have this courtesy. The front end is no slouch either, with a spoked wheel, Brembo radial calipers, petal discs and a superb Öhlins black series fork. The Swedish manufacturer also supplies the TTX36 rear shock absorber.
the Horex VR6 has built much of its reputation on its engine. Slightly revised since the original model, it now delivers 167.7 horsepower. The weight has also been reduced, to 221 kilos. This machine has enough to satisfy many an impatient customer, but... But we're in the territory of the rare and the demanding. Only 33 examples of the Black Edition will be produced. Secondly, the price is even more toxic than for the Silver. We're not far off the €70,000 mark. Finally, it can be enjoyed on its own, as a pure single-seater whose emulation it defends.
