presentation of the 999 Scout Sixty Classic 2025
Choosing a Scout from Indian can be complicated by the sheer breadth of the range. It's hard to know where to turn, and too much choice kills choice. In the midst of the cousinhood, one model emerges as a way to get back to simplicity: the Classic. This is the model that most closely resembles the reborn 1133 Scout of 2015.
To get to grips with this subtly retro cruiser, you no longer need to shell out the big bucks, as it's now in a more accessible dimension. Both financially and technically. The "little" 999 cm3 Scout wants the same suit as the 1250, which has led the Springfield-based brand to offer the Scout Sixty Classic.
The very essence of the Scout
It's the same profile, with big skirts and a laid-back look. The price is more reasonable than with the 1250 , but you'll have to make a few concessions. No spoked wheels, one gear less in the gearbox, less chrome and artifice on the engine, power a notch lower - it's planing while trying not to skin it too much.
But it's not all dull, quite the contrary. The seat height is even lower, at just 654 mm. The machine is 11 kg lighter (still, 241 kg), and it can claim a certain pride: the Scout Sixty Classic presents itself as the gateway to the Indian world, and defends the brand in front of curious youngsters and A2s. Its Bobber brother is in an even better position in terms of money, but is aimed at an already more selective public.
It also cultivates a temporal bridge with the former Scout Sixty, which wasn't called Classic but had almost the same look. The intervening years have left their mark. The new Scout boasts more horsepower, a steel frame instead of aluminum, optional power-assisted steering and a large exhaust system that's far too massive for the Tommy Guns of its predecessor.

Hey oh, more horsepower, less horsepower.... how much does this Scout actually have!?!!
The one-liter twin sends out 85 horsepower and some 8.9 mkg of torque. These are transmitted via a belt to the 16-inch rear wheel. Don't be jealous, the front wheel has the same diameter. And the same 298 mm brake disc. Only the number of pistons in each caliper (2 at the front, 1 at the rear) and the width of the tires change.
The rest of the chassis is typical of the American consulate. A consequent 1,562 mm wheelbase, a very common 41 mm fork, two shocks with little travel and a double steel cradle structure are all part of the package. The front tire, 13 cm wide, is impressive, to the detriment of agility. With wheelbase, caster and weight all at the same level, you can't expect a ballerina anyway. Fortunately, the low weight and minimal seat height make for easy handling.
With or without cream?
The most classic of Scouts is presented to the public in a standard finish, with all its essential virtues. The Limited version adds geek attitude, with traction control, cruise control, USB port and three driving modes. To get the circular color TFT speedometer and Ride Command functions (GPS, Bluetooth connectivity, Driving Modes settings), you have to go to the accessories section, where you'll find around a hundred references.
