presentation of the 1000 Sport Cruiser 2026
At the Brno Motorcycle Show (Czech Republic), Jawa unveiled its 1000 Sport Cruiser, which currently exists as a pre-production prototype. With this model, the Czech manufacturer is expanding its lineup with a high-performance bike aimed at a discerning audience. It is a very limited-run project emphasizing technical design and the origins of its manufacturing.
It’s taking its time
Development of this model dates back to around 2008, when the initial concept for a 2-liter twin-cylinder engine was conceived. The project went through several phases and required significant investment to reach the functional prototype stage. During the development process, the manufacturer decided to focus as much as possible on local (Czech) production, which meant limiting collaboration with external suppliers in Asia who had been involved in some of the brand’s previous models.
The bike’s foundation is a double-tube frame developed in the Czech Republic. Although it is based on the concept used for the Jawa 730 Twin, it is not an identical solution. The structure was modified to account for the higher performance and overall load. The differences lie mainly in the chassis and the mounting of the various components, which affects the bike’s handling and overall stability.
Engine
The main feature of this model is a liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with a displacement of 999 cm³, developed in the Czech Republic. Maximum power is 113 horsepower at 9,200 rpm. The engine’s specifications indicate that it is not an extremely sporty unit, but rather a compromise between performance and everyday usability.
High-End Components and Design
The suspension is supplied by Öhlins, with the rear using a pair of lateral shock absorbers while a fork from the same brand is installed at the front. The braking system comes from Brembo, specifically calipers from the Stylema range. The exhaust silencers are supplied by LeoVince, and the wheels are from OZ Racing.
Designed by Jan Hrbek, the styling draws inspiration from the brand’s historic models. The motorcycle retains traditional proportions and characteristic elements such as the round headlight and a simple silhouette. At the same time, it incorporates modern solutions, such as the placement of the fuel tank under the rider’s seat, which alters the weight distribution and the overall appearance of the machine.
Limited production and a niche audience
Production of the Jawa 1000 will be significantly limited. A maximum of 15 units will be produced once manufacturing begins (but when...). Such a small number confirms that this is not a model intended for the mass market, but an exclusive project aimed at collectors and long-time fans of the brand.
The price has been set at approximately 1.5 million Czech korunas (about €62,000). Part of the offer will include the option for individual customization according to the customer’s requirements, which will further enhance the uniqueness of each unit produced. Customization may include visual elements as well as certain technical details.
