presentation of the Ninja 1000 ZX-10R Performance 2021
Every generation of the ZX-10R includes a "Performance" model. It's a family tradition that goes beyond pure sports bikes. The Kawasaki missile already proves highly effective on the track, but some may feel that an extra touch of sportiness would fit it like a glove.
That's what the Kawa pack is for. Just add a ticket and the pistarde is equipped with a few goodies. A bit of cosmetics with the smoked bubble (neither higher nor wider) and the matching seat cover. If only we could get rid of the infamous reflectors and plate holder... Only on the track, where the Dix-R is really at its most comfortable.
Half handlebars in hands, TFT screen and multiple parameters under eyes, drool under helmets... the rider is ready. Depending on the design of his pants and his riding style, the edges of the tank may be scratched. Hence the importance of gel-resin side protectors. This brings us to the main accessory, the Akrapocic silencer.
The Slovenian element offers a more raucous resonance than the original exhaust's blare, which excites the ear during rapid rev-ups. Looks and noise will be the main motivations, because performance-wise, the gain is minimal: ½ horsepower more, a pinch more torque (0.6 Nm), and 700 grams less on the scales. To really make the 4-cylinder spit out more watts, chrono fans will be looking at the complete line - 2 times more expensive than the silencer, but more than 10 horses added to the pot.
The ZX-10R already offers 203 as standard. Enough to go very fast. The quest for efficiency has brought substantial modifications to this generation, with a fairing incorporating a singular system of internal widgets, a shorter transmission, a slightly reworked chassis and a little more electronics with smartphone connectivity and cruise control. Steering technology will rely more on the shifter, traction and engine braking controls, intelligent ABS, Ride Modes, Launch Control, etc., etc....
