presentation of the 500 Eliminator 2024

The Eliminator name had fallen into oblivion in Europe. This faction in Kawasaki's custom range hadn't been in the news since the 125 model, eclipsed in 2008.

Yet it's an emblematic clan, with a wilder look and temperament than the VN and Vulcan. It would seem that the time has come for this mini-mad-max to make a comeback. Such is the case in 2024, when the market can welcome the arrival of the 500 Eliminator.

Eliminators were produced in a variety of displacements in the '80s and '90s. The 400 already existed in 1986, when its cubic capacity enabled it to attack its local market. Japan's tax authorities are keen on models under 400 cm3.

At the time, its engine had 4 cylinders. For a long time, the Japanese loved this type of engine, making it available in a wide range of displacements for a myriad of categories.
For its comeback, the Eliminator has opted for a more consensual architecture, with a parallel-twin cylinder, as on the 650 Vulcan S. For Europe, Kawa has opted not for the 398 cm3 block, but for the chunkier 451 cm3. It also equips the new Z 500 and Ninja 500. It's the old block from the Z and Ninja 400, but lengthened in displacement by increasing the stroke by 6.8 mm. The result is a little more torque and responsiveness. This block will enable the Ninja to develop just over 50 hp - 45.4 hp to be precise - and just over 4 mkg. Not enough for a show of force like its ancestors of the last century, but enough for urban driving with style and attitude.

With its power-cruiser look, the EL 500 could well provoke a few emotions. Its low seat height (735 mm) will be a real asset for smaller riders, while its bulging eyes will make the competition sit up and take notice. The Honda 500 CMX Rebel is clearly the target, but Kawa could also put the Royal-Enfield Super Meteor on its list. With the same power, the Indian model draws more torque thanks to its displacement, but has to contend with an extra 50 or so kilos.

The Eliminator's profile may be a bit grumpy, but its chassis is much wiser. This 500 is the opposite ofa ZX-4R. It's built around a minimalist tubular steel frame (specific to this model) on which a 41 mm fork is anchored. The front features a large tire, typical of this category of machine, combined with a single 310 mm brake disc. Two pistons act to calm it down, as does the 240 mm rear brake pad.
No traction control or GoPro between the head gasket and the brain. Just LEDs for the headlights and an LCD speedometer.

With its power on the borderline of young licensees, the Eliminator 500 presents itself as the 650 Vulcan's lieutenant. The Greens are setting themselves a challenge by offering this little custom on European soil... and so much the better! Since the demise of the VN models(900 and 1700), custom customers have had little choice at Kawa.

Kawasaki also offers an S.E. version, with headlight cover, fork gaiters and USB type C socket.

French TARDIS Model 2025
This "little one" is incredible. It has the same engine as the Ninja—it's pure, unadulterated Kawa, no questions asked—and while it's mainly seen in the city, its torque and agility are a treat on mountain roads. I even took it out on the highway, and it handled the challenge with flying colors. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2024
Great value for the money. It has just enough power to be fun, and the ride is really enjoyable. It’s very light, responsive, and doesn’t need to be restricted for an A2 license—it’s the perfect bike for beginners or anyone who loves the retro style. I don’t regret my purchase; it’s a pleasure to ride and perfect for women of any size. Rating : 5/5

French Tonylein Model 2025
It's a roadster in cruiser guise. The engine is astonishingly smooth, with sporty revs, and it gives pleasure at every level, without going into a frenzy of power that's unnecessary on today's roads. Since I bought it, I've rediscovered the real pleasure of riding a motorcycle on a daily basis: lightness, handling, low fuel consumption, etc... The only flaw is easily corrected by fitting extensions: the mirrors should have been placed further out. Rating : 5/5

French Model 2024
One regret.... I'd like it with a bigger engine. Kawa, make us one with a larger displacement and more power and I'll take it. It handles like a bike. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2024
Perfect bike for getting back in the saddle after many years, easy to handle, a real joy, with everything you need to enjoy yourself. These handlebars make me look younger, I'm 54. Bonne route à tous. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2024
This bike is made for small people like my wife (1.57m) and follows on from the 250 Eliminator from the same brand, which was a little bomb (30hp) and very reliable. No regrets, only happiness on the road with an engine that's always willing and remarkably agile (dixsit my wife). The only reproach concerns the matt black on the whole bike and not a touch of chrome... A little jewel indeed. Rating : 5/5
It's as supple as you want it to be, with a beautiful face, and it's elegant and light. It opts for a supple ride...ideal for young drivers, but also for older ones who will really enjoy getting back on the handlebars...A little jewel. Rating : 5/5
