presentation of the 2-stroke 2020
Let's talk about a 2-stage café-racer. For many, we'd be plunging into the references of the distant 20th century, into the mewling of a bygone (or sacrificed) era, under the brainwaves of a few seasoned tuners.
Or simply in a corner of England, where a CCM alumnus decided to found his own brand and create a motorcycle reflecting his vision.
Langen is the guy's nickname, and also the name of his company. In his workshops, tucked away to the east of Greater Manchester, a meticulously crafted cafra is about to sizzle wildly across the British countryside.
But it's not a brute. More prosaically, a ballerina. A handsome little roadster with low-slung handlebars, spoked rims and the graceful silhouette of a young Beatle, Langen has kept it simple, beautiful and appetizing as a sports ride. The superb aluminum-tube frame and swingarm immediately convey the quality of the workmanship. On the other hand, once the engine starts to sing, enthusiasts will have their hair stood on end before their right hand starts to itch.
The Langen 2-stroke is powered by a two-cylinder engine of moderate cubic capacity. Just 249 cm3. An Italian-sounding engine from Vins. A modest gearbox, too, which attempts the sporty 2-stroke adventure. As a result, this small block looks much more interesting. much lighter than its valve counterpart, it also delivers staggering power for its displacement. Langen claims 80 hp at 11,700 rpm. Torque of 4.1 mkg is obtained at the same rpm. The brand claims an operating range between 9,500 and 11,700 rpm. Sporty temperament and sensations guaranteed, because the bike has another trump card: weight.

All the more so as the equipment promises: 43 mm Öhlins fork, 320 mm double disc with 4-piston radial calipers, numerous CNC-machined or carbon parts, some of which are trimmed with 24-carat gold, a pair of under-seat shock absorbers developed by K-Tech... The Langen, or rather its engine, even comes with an extractable gearbox. Everything makes you want to grab and invest in the lady.
christofer 'Langen' Ratcliffe has created a café-racer like no other. As light as a 125, as powerful as a 650, with the face of an ennobled hooligan, this kind of hornet is an invitation to debauchery. Expensive (£30,000), expressive, certainly of confidential distribution and relative comfort, it's a good way to make the discerning heart beat faster.
