While Moto Guzzi's trail bike history began with the V35 and V65 TT (Tutto Terreno) in the early 1980s, it was with the arrival of more ambitious models that the brand truly established its identity in the adventure segment.

The 750 NTX: Heir to the desert (1986-1994)

In the mid-1980s, the Paris-Dakar rally captured the imagination of Europe. Guzzi responded to the call with the NTX (Nuovo Tipo Cross). Initially launched in 350 and 650 versions, it was the 750 version that made a lasting impression.
Character: Equipped with a "small block" engine increased to 744 cm³, the NTX 750 stood out with its huge 30-liter fuel tank, generous protection, and 21-inch front wheel.

The Quota: The giant from Mandello (1992-2001)

In the 1990s, the trail bike market was changing: riders were looking for more power and comfort for two. Guzzi responded with the Quota 1000, followed by the 1100 ES.
It was striking for its imposing dimensions. It was a tall, long motorcycle with massive fairing incorporating iconic round twin headlights. It introduced electronic fuel injection to the segment at Guzzi. While the Quota 1000 suffered from an intimidating seat height, the 1100 ES version corrected this and established itself as a long-distance traveler, capable of competing with the BMW R 1100 GS in the grand touring arena, while retaining a 21-inch wheel, a remnant of its off-road ambitions.

The Stelvio dynasty

After a hiatus, Moto Guzzi returns to the forefront with a name that sounds like a challenge: the Stelvio, Italy's most famous mountain pass.
The Stelvio 1200 was a declaration of war on European maxi-trails. Initially equipped with the 1100 twin with double valves, in 2011 it was fitted with the "8V" engine (4 valves per cylinder), offering unprecedented power for a Guzzi engine.

The NTX evolution: In 2011, the NTX returned to the catalog. But this time, it was a more adventurous version of the Stelvio. With its 32-liter tank, aluminum panniers, and sturdy protective features, it became the charismatic and authentic alternative to German machines. Its weight was its only real drawback, but its balance in motion was highly praised by Guzzi enthusiasts.

Technological renewal (2024)

After a few quiet years filled by the success of the V85 TT (which revived the retro trail spirit), the Stelvio dynasty was reborn in 2024.
The break: This new generation is based on the "Compact Block" platform of the V100 Mandello. For the first time, the Guzzi trail bike adopts liquid cooling and state-of-the-art electronics (radar, shifter, riding modes). More compact, more agile, but still powered by the lateral sway so dear to fans of the brand, it propels Guzzi's trail heritage into the modern era.
