presentation of the Timeless 1200 2026
Taking on the Triumph Bonneville is a daring, even perilous undertaking. In any case, it’s a tough nut to crack. That doesn’t seem to faze Morbidelli, who’s taking on the challenge with this 1200 Timeless. A retro roadster with a sense of déjà vu.
The game of clones
For two reasons. First, because it borrows the Bonneville’s basic lines for a mimetic showdown: a big parallel-twin engine, a round headlight, a pair of circular gauges on the dashboard, a flat seat, and a copy-and-paste silhouette. In short, the design is almost a carbon copy.
On the other hand, because the Timeless is quite simply the rebirth of the Brixton 1200 Cromwell, itself a rebadged version of the Gaokin GK 1200. A true case of recycling, reflecting a glaring lack of inspiration.
The Timeless won’t be able to rely on the novelty factor, then. It can, however, make its case to convince you that it’s anything but a cheap Bonnie. Its suspension comes from Kayaba, its brakes from Nissin, the fuel injection is by Dell’Orto, and the electronics are supplied by Magnetti Marelli; and well-known names also appear on the Bosch ABS, the DID drive chain, and the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires. European and Japanese components demonstrate the seriousness of this Chinese model bearing an Italian-sounding name.
As for the engine, the Timeless aims to go head-to-head with the British twin. Its 1,222 cc engine produces 83 hp and 11 mkg of torque—figures very close to its inspiration. The same goes for weight.

On paper, the deal seems tempting, especially since the Morbidelli is priced (in Asia) much lower than the Bonneville. Once in Europe, however, it’s a different story, with a price tag that will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the cost advantage.
A legacy to build
But since the market didn’t respond to the Cromwell 1200’s attempt, we won’t speculate on the Timeless’s future. It does, however, have a likable and somewhat rugged profile with its knobby tires and engine guard. But here’s the problem: it can’t tell its neighbor’s story since it hasn’t lived through it.
