presentation of the 1200 X-Cape 2026
We’ve been waiting a long time for this big X-Cape. Moto-Morini had planned it for 2024; we’ll see it in 2026.
With this large crossover, the Trivolzio-based brand is tackling three goals with a single bike: the lineup now includes a maxi-trail model in an effort to capture a share of this lucrative market / The 650 X-Cape has a big sister, and the Sino-Italian manufacturer is finally offering a successor to the 1200 Gran Passo.
Unsurprisingly, the tall, muscular silhouette mirrors that of the 650, with rounder, more expansive angles, a wide engine guard, a more striking front end, and a substantial underbelly. The bike clearly displays its 1200-class stature, coupled with a distinctly touring-oriented profile. Unlike the Gran Passo, which aimed to be light and sporty, the X-Cape is geared toward long-distance touring. The suspension travel—slightly greater than that of a roadster (192 mm / 166 mm)—the seat, which promises comfort (as advertised, though not verified), and the profile of the Pirelli Scorpion Trail tires leave no room for doubt.
The Power of an Engine with a Scandalous Past
To achieve this, Morini dusted off its big Bialbero twin and gave it a major upgrade, just to ensure it easily meets Euro 5+ standards. Now dubbed the Corsa Corta EVO, this 1,187 cm³ engine produces 129 chevaux at 8,750 rpm—a reasonable power output, complemented by solid torque (10.7 mkg) though rather modest given the displacement.Still, it should deliver that typically Italian feel of power and acceleration. What excitement and passion there was back in the Corsaro days!
The 1200 X-Cape also relies on its features to win you over. It features a large 7-inch color TFT display, 3 riding modes, cornering ABS (which can be disabled for off-road riding), traction control, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring sensors, a shifter, a radar-based blind-spot detector, heated seats and grips, a front-facing camera, adaptive cornering headlights, an adjustable windshield, a dual USB port, and a center stand.
On the chassis side, this model features Brembo braking components and manual controls—including M4.32 calipers (the Stylema calipers from the “teaser” model are gone), a large-diameter inverted fork with multiple adjustments, a tubular steel trellis frame, and aluminum components (swingarm, rear subframe, handlebars, and luggage rack). As its dimensions suggest, the X-Cape “12” will require a minimum of experience: with a seat height of 860 mm, a claimed weight of 259 kilos (ouch...) and plenty of power, this adventure-touring bike isn’t really within reach of budding adventurers.
Moto-Morini is taking its time to fine-tune its next flagship model. Its release has been repeatedly delayed. Clearly, Morini’s fate is never straightforward.

It’s a shame there aren’t enough dealerships yet, but apparently that’s going to change thanks to a new distributor in France.
