presentation of the Rebello 1200 2016
the first Rebello marked Morini's revival and celebrated the brand's 75th anniversary. To create a buzz, this roadster was put up for sale in 2012 via an auction system. The machine was slow to appear on the market, but here it is, with a few modifications. The twin, in RS14 version, is equipped with 2 lambda probes and a new injection map. Power and torque remain unchanged, but the engine's fuel consumption and smoothness have been improved. The exhaust and engine cowling have been modified, while the spirit and silhouette have been preserved.
Crouched on its shoulders, the Rebello seems to have been built around its engine. Its rather massive styling is unusual for an Italian, and reminiscent of certain Buell models. Everyone will appreciate, but the Morini was not designed for finesse, but rather for character. It clearly wants to stand out, and plays to its strengths.
First, there's the engine. A vigorous Italian twin from the Corsaro. The Rebello's output is 130 hp, but its 12 mkg are always there to lift your heart. And Morini announces that his roadster remains in the same vein: very mean.
Small and unobtrusive, the trellis frame holds the ebullient twin-cylinder and some really interesting equipment. The Marzocchi fork is huge, 50 mm in diameter, the shock absorber comes from Öhlins, and braking is top-notch: 18 mm radial master cylinder, 4-piston monobloc radial calipers, 320 mm discs, and all Brembo.
Sporty? Definitely. And also considerate for the passenger. The Rebello is fitted as standard with a motorized seat backrest, which electrically slides to reveal the passenger seat. It features all-carbon trim and a unique 'FIRE' button to switch the engine on and off. Compared to the first version presented in 2012, this one comes at an outrageous price, now totally unjustified. All the more reason to exclude it from the curious and amateurs, and to attract only unconditional fans.
