presentation of the 1200 SPORT 4V 2013
since 2009, the Sport has doubled its number of valves and boasts a clear improvement in engine breathing. A little more torque and, above all, 105 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. Its block, derived from the Griso 8V and Stelvio, behaves slightly differently from the latter, as the intake and exhaust are different. Alas, some elements have disappeared: bye-bye petal brake discs and carbon muffler - the 1200 Sport adopts a stylish new aluminum muffler with fins at the end of the tip. A few cosmetic touch-ups are also included, such as the transparent rear light and the black tint on the fork legs and monobracket. The handlebars are also raised a little.
at Mandello, we love the sporty roadster, but with a very personal definition. On one side of the road are these wild streetfighters, alive with aggression and fury. On the other, you'll find a dignified ride that's not too loud. It's this sporty Lacoste polo look and gentlemanly charm that define the Guzzi 1200 Sport. Although it lacks the muscle of the old Centauro, this bourgeois roadster defends its stronghold with a big, fat transverse twin from the 1200 Norge and a Breva part-cylinder.
less beastly than the Griso, this big-hearted machine likes to reveal its power in the mid-range, with its typical muted, deep hammering, and a length in the mouth that no multi-valve boiler can offer with such relaxation. It's pullman! But if you're a handgrip enthusiast who likes to see a needle racing through the 5-digit zone, you'll find the Italian twin-cylinder's lack of liveliness in stark contrast to the machine's name.
The riding position is tilted forward, justifying a more dynamic ride than with a Breva. A playful machine, the 1200 Sport still demands a fair amount of respect - its 240 kilos unladen weight means you have to take care of the ride.
charming with its vibrations and characterful engine behavior, the 1200 Sport is equipped with a few elements that add even more cachet to its already pleasing design, such as the sport windscreen and the small seat cover. The comprehensive instrument panel is superb, the saddle comfortable, and the single-arm will relieve you of the chore of greasing the chain.
with this bike, Guzzi claims a version of sport soaked in traditionalism. Beautiful and luscious, it's aimed at connoisseurs. Tickling the Z 1000 or a Tuono cousin is out of the question; the roadster with the eagle's crest is not made for that. It's not fashionable, and that's just as well, because we wouldn't appreciate it if it were. When you're born a Guzzi, you have to respect certain codes.

As for problems, I had two in the ’80s—not just with the electrical system; the cables used to break quite often, too.
