presentation of the R 1200 R 2013

quiet but devilishly efficient, the R 1200 R is still present in the BMW range, defending more classic values than the brutes of another caliber, the K 1300 R and other lumberjacks. In turn, it benefits from double ACT cylinder heads from the HP2 Sport. The GS and RT have already used them, so why not this one?

the flat twin gains 500 rpm of engine speed, an ounce of power and torque, but it's above all in character that the difference should be felt. A bit of sportiness in the hatchback always makes a difference. Béhème is taking advantage of this opportunity to revise its bourgeois roadster in small ways. A new, slightly egg-shaped headlamp adds a little more cachet, while the new instrument panel (central digital window surrounded by two dials) suits it much better than the old instrumentation taken from the 1200 GS. A new, more arched saddle should improve passenger comfort, while the new, generous rear grips will make it much easier to hold on. A touch of class: the Paralever single-arm, cylinder heads, Telelever suspension arm and lower fork are painted bronze. Note also the new, more stylish oil cooler guard and the rims borrowed from the K series. It's a small thing, but it adds to the impression of quality.

French Jeft Model 2014
I've just bought the r1200r 2014 model full option 24000km for 6000€ and I really don't understand why this bike isn't known anymore. Indeed everyone talks about the gs but this bike is really great especially for people under 176. Rating : 4/5
As the proud successive owner of 3 XJR 2000 / 2003 / 2009, interspersed with a 2009 GS, I've been won over by the smoothness of the R1200R - mil 2013 for mine - smooth but torquey to a fault, comfortable and pleasant in any situation, braking far above anything I've experienced, a real gem! Right down to the aesthetics, which make it instantly recognizable and set it apart from other roadsters. Rating : 5/5
French Loulou33 Model 2012
Superb bike. After 3 FJR 1300s, I've tasted the pleasure of the BMW Flat! What happiness! light, easy to handle, torque, a look not devastating but beautiful all the same. In short, I love it! Rating : 5/5
French Model 2013
For me it's a very good bike, especially the chassis. De2103 I bought it in 2015 it had 5000 km today it has more than 35000 and apart from the maintenance tires oil change brake pads RAS, it is a true happiness! Rating : 5/5
French Model 2013
Underneath its "ordinary" appearance, this is a playful bike, with imperial roadholding, torque and very effective braking: in short, an accomplished bike, with high mileage in sight!
a little extra comfort would have been a plus when riding solo, but it's still quite honest (I'm picky with my rotten back); not much when riding as a duo
the minuses: a sheet metal fuel tank that rusts severely under the cap. why not get a composite tank like on the GS? the frame's rustproofing is at a bare minimum; here too, it's better on the GS
so why not take a GS? I had one, which I sold at 105,000 kms, while a friend (80 years old this year) offered me his R1200R with 18,000 kms at a bargain price: for a bit, I'd have kissed him on the mouth.

Excellente moto mais...
French Model 2013
Borrowed from my father for a month and ridden for almost 3000km. The bike has nothing but good qualities: it's beautiful, well-built, light, terribly efficient on bends, and the comfort/sportivity ratio of the suspension is simply mind-blowing.
But in all this month, I've never had the "sparkle", the little shudder on acceleration or the little smile when cornering. The engine is full-throttle and powerful at higher revs, but all this is done progressively and with an extremely subdued noise. Last but not least, the bike's unflappable attitude, whatever the road or loading conditions, offers first-rate comfort and handling... but erases what was left of the dynamic feel.
In short, it's an excellent motorcycle, but its impressive efficiency doesn't make up for the fact that it's too sanitized for my taste, especially for a roadster. Maybe it's just me who doesn't like the beheme spirit. Try it before you write a (big!) check to put it in your garage.

\"Devilishly efficient" they say in this test! and yes, I can confirm it! torque everywhere! disconcerting ease of cornering, good ground clearance for cornering! flawless stability, and braking that's faultless, powerful, dosable, excellent feel... all with maximum comfort (except perhaps the original seat, which is far too firm for long distances).
In short, yet another Béhème success story....

Having owned a number of motorcycles, including sports bikes and roadsters, I can confirm that this is an excellent motorcycle from a safety and enjoyment point of view. Admittedly, it's not a pure sports roadster, but it has the performance to match. It reconciles pleasure, with its engine character, and safety, with l\'abs, esc, esa. Rating : 5/5

Superb, good bike. Suitable for all types of riding. Both for touring and pleasure.
This is my 18th motorcycle of any make, and the first time I've enjoyed a motorcycle so much on a daily basis...

Sure value.

BMW plays a curious game of teasing, making options standard and removing accessories...
E.g.: abs is now standard, as is the center stand (which has had an impact on pricing). The tool kit was no doubt deemed unnecessary, and has therefore been removed. The comfort saddle is beautiful and pleasant to the touch, but its surface is fragile. Lots of plastic. This good-quality road bike nevertheless gives the impression of having been made to age poorly (programmed obsolescence?).

Very good machine, but I have two major faults with a 2008 1200R: non-existent comfort with the original seat and a faulty on-board computer with regard to the fuel gauge, which has been changed twice and is now out of order again.
Take charge of the fuel gauge because it's a recurring and costly problem.
Sincerely

I have the 2012 model, all options. A magnificent machine! This concentrate of German technology holds its own like few others; the tele-lever is frighteningly efficient, as is the 3rd-generation ABS and brake force distribution. The frame and weight balance are beyond reproach. Steel torque and enough trunk space to propel the whole thing to 200km/h in less than 10s, there's plenty to go around! At the touch of a button (ESA), the suspension switches from sport mode to comfort mode and you're ready to travel; full luggage is available and in cruising mode, the twin is sober: you can count on 400km of range. Heated grips, traction control, I rode it all winter without a care in the world. The price is often cited as the (only?) negative point, but all in all it's not exaggerated: no other roadster offers this quality of design and finish. With its sober, elegant look, it's a true all-round rider's bike. Rating : 5/5

Great bike! After 30 years of Japanese bikes, how could I have missed it? Good handling, good brakes, good grip, good torque on the road, even in town, so it's a pleasure to ride. However, the price is excessive, and there are too many options. At 13,500 â'¬ with all options, it's a sobering thought. It's true that there are English and Japanese bikes of very good quality, equivalent to the 1200R, for less money!
Something to think about!

It's probably the last one for me but I'm not disappointed, excellent roadholding, excellent braking, excellent engine...a good big twin very pleasant to drive, torquey as you wish, allowing long rides without torturing the gearbox. The only point a little annoying, you have to watch the oil level...but when you like it...you often do it without complaining Rating : 5/5
