The 1987 evolution was the longest-selling version, until 1995. And yet, it was far from being the most produced (only 6,393 of the 2 1000cc versions combined). We could argue for a long time about the legitimacy of calling it Le Mans V, since it's a version 4 that's simply been corrected and stripped of its biggest defects. In France, these 2 models were marketed under the name "1000 Le Mans", with only the 850s bearing their version number on the side.
To everyone's delight, this "V" version abandons the 16" wheel and reverts to a classic 18", which it should never have abandoned. The "Le Mans" thus regains its serenity and its unique, atypical character compared with the sports car production of the time. Guzzlers can once again enjoy the engine's character and the vibrations that resonate close to the heart, thanks to a new front axle that makes itself invisible.

The "Le Mans V" may no longer offer the latest gadgets, but it's still a motorcycle that delivers real sensations and continues to delight many enthusiasts by appealing to traditionalist tastes. You don't ride a Le Mans because it's the best sports bike, the most powerful or the most high-tech, but because of an engine that pulls, that vibrates and echoes in the rider's chest. The bike is full of faults: a throttle that's too hard, a side stand specially designed to irritate the guzzler, rear suspension that's too dry... but the engine thrills make you forget everything.
The 80s and 90s were financially very difficult for the brand. It underwent numerous restructurings and passed through several hands during the 90s. In 1995, in the midst of turmoil and uncertainty, Moto Guzzi nevertheless released a replacement for the "Le Mans". Derived from the luxurious and rare 1000 Daytona, it was the brainchild of the passionate Dr John Wittner. It would be called the 1100 Sport, missing the break with the Le Mans series.
