presentation of the 500 GSF 2006

in addition to adapting the GS 500 to Euro 2 standards, thanks to a catalyzed exhaust and a fresh-air intake system, Suzuki offers a full fairing. The powertrain remains unchanged, except for the addition of an oil cooler. The same applies to the chassis. Only the Tokico brake calipers have been replaced by AP components. Thanks to this fairing, the GS opens the doors to the world of travel, at an extra cost of €142. it may not be as attractive in the event of breakage, but its GSX-R 1000-tinged design will delight young sports enthusiasts. The GS is first and foremost a basic model, supposed to have an honorable maintenance cost, but today its touring ambitions are revealed. On the downside, the GS is 11 kg heavier. Nothing to worry about. The GSF 500 is a competitor to the 500 GPZ, with perhaps a little more charm. Let's hope it retains its main features: its attractive price and its ease of use...

the 500 GS has always been THE cheap and easy Suzuki. From a basic medium-displacement roadster, it has become the cheapest and most accessible tourer in France. Offered at a bargain-basement price, this 500 lets you take on the open road for less than €5,000. A protective fairing and original bubble give the rider a good 150 mph without turning up his nose at the speedometer. With a straight back and a relaxed riding position, the kilometers fly by at a good pace. Only the ears don't enjoy the party: the bubble causes a fair amount of aerodynamic noise. An ounce of extra caution should be part of your luggage in the Rhone Valley. Sideways gusts of wind can influence steering. More annoying than dangerous. Comfortable, the GS will allow you to cover almost 350 km before refueling. The twin-cylinder engine that has accompanied the machine for many years has its own charm that makes a mockery of raw performance. economical, reliable and flexible, it'll be with you every day without a hitch. In most cases, its power is sufficient, even if it can be criticized for lacking real character. Except in the case of vibrations, which are slightly noticeable when you push the revs. Off the freeway, the machine lends itself readily to playful driving. With its featherweight, which makes it a tool in the city, anything goes, and it's an excuse to swing it from one angle to another. But don't push it to its limits - The very supple suspension is a real pleasure when traveling, but not really ideal for rigorous roadholding. You can't take full advantage of the very good braking because of the fork's excessive flexibility. Stability can become unpredictable, but not really dangerous. Note: it's possible to play well without necessarily treating it as a GSX-R.
With the 500 GSF, beginners (and why only beginners...?) can enjoy the lightness of a roadster, the ease of a basic bike and the skills of a tourer. At this price level, it's truly incredible, and rare enough to be worth mentioning.

French Hibiki Model 2005
I had it for 1 year as my first motorcycle, and was quite disappointed. Logically, it's a good bike for a young licence holder, but it's full of faults. Mine was constantly breaking down, and had major problems. It couldn't stand the cold, even with the choke, and if it stayed outside in the cold for 1 hour, it was impossible to start it. It was clearly out of juice. No fuel gauge, but that was to be expected, but no sight glass, nothing. Only a reserve tap, so you know you're out of gas when the bike lets you down. Not very practical when you're on the freeway. And other problems I forget to mention. In the end, I had a major breakdown, despite its (only) 25,000km on the odometer, and my constant care to keep it in good condition. Its few strong points: thanks to its squaring and paintwork, it has aged well, and the bubble is practical for long-distance driving. Rating : 5/5

Very good machine, easy to ride and, above all, inexpensive to maintain. Good roadholding and more than enough power to give you a thrill. Rating : 5/5

French Tinmar Model 2004
Hi all, I got my license on 06/03/2007, 20 years old, 34hp
I couldn't find a good, inexpensive motorcycle, and second-hand bikes are hot - we don't know what he did with the guy?
And then an ad appeared: a suzuki GS500F was being destocked, as Jean-Bern was saying. I obviously jumped at the chance and since today...2500Kms the ideal bike to start with. I'm having the time of my life. Bonne route à tous...
Rating : 5/5
French jean-bern Model 2004
even better: suzuki is currently destocking the GS500f for 3999 euros!!!
I ordered it as fast as I could!

Well, the GS 500F is my first bike. Not yet two years old and over 21,000 km... All that's said is true: it's not a GEX, it's not the price of a GEX, it's not the power either (that's c...) but it's a 130 boudin at the rear that makes riding a real pleasure: the bike is super light and angle changes are light. And you can corner faster than those with a 180... even if they have 200hp, the real angle is as bad as the tire is wide
So don't forget to make your driving smooth: you'll overtake in a curve and be overtaken in a straight line ;-) (but straight lines are for those with square tires :D )
Have a good trip!
(P.S.: and all for 4500 Euros if you negotiate well and 5L/100kms)

French tycac Model 2004
My very first motorcycle, and frankly, it looks much better than many of its competitors... What's more, it's cheap to buy and fuel-efficient... 20L tank!
On the other hand, it's a shame that it doesn't automatically switch to reserve like the CBF 500
But for the price, don't ask too much!
Rating : 5/5
A great bike for beginners. Small and light, it's very practical in town. As for travel, a pair of panniers and off you go for the weekend. The only downside is oil consumption: negligible in town, it rises to 1L/1000km on the freeway! So you have to top up every 500 km... Rating : 5/5
French mimile.pep Model 2004
it's my first bike and i'm very happy with it,the only negative note would be the comfort when riding double, and the difficulty in adjusting the rear suspension.for the price it's still a great bike for beginners.bonne route à tous Rating : 5/5
French jack Model 2004
i bought this bike last august, as a second "big cube" after a yamaha 400 xs. what attracted me to this bike was the sporty look with the fairing and the price. performance-wise, it's a pretty lively bike that does 190 kmh max! but it's still a step below the 500 gpz or even the cb 500. suzuki should add a little more power to its engine. so i got it back from yam for the fz6 naked. bonne route a tous. Rating : 5/5
French milka50 Model 2004
nothing to complain about. i bought this bike new just after i got my license in august 2005. i'm really happy with it. i love the GSXR and since i'm a beginner it was impossible for me to ride it, but now i'm happy. Rating : 5/5
French la fouine Model 2004
i think it's great! I was looking on the net for a grinding wheel in my price range and I came face to face with this machine. I'm really looking forward to it and it'll be a nice change from my DNA, which is always out of order Rating : 5/5
French Christai51 Model 2004
I just bought my blue GS500F in February. I really like it. Last year, I had a 1999 Honda 500CB, and frankly, I can feel the difference... Comfort, pleasure etc..
I regret that the lights come on as soon as the ignition is switched on, so watch out for the battery!
Nevertheless, it looks good for a reasonable price... I'm going to have a 1-year driving licence in May, so I think I'll keep it for a while to practice...
