presentation of the VZ 1600 MARAUDER 2005
just as everyone else has brought out their big custom bikes with their oversized twin, Suz has jumped on the bandwagon, but with less headache: its new 1600 Marauder is quite simply the brother of the Kawa 1600 Mean Streak. Remember that Suzuki and Kawasaki had recently signed a partnership agreement allowing synergies in the products of the 2 factories. Well, it's not quite its twin: the rear mudguard and headlight are different, and so is the price, give or take €300. The Suzuki comes in a refreshingly original blue. Apart from these family links, the big Marauder has a lot going for it: a big fuel-injected twin, a cardan drivetrain, and an upside-down fork with huge brake discs. The Americans are going to be happy with all these custom bikes coming to the new continent.
This twin may be bigger than Harley's twin cam, but it's much more discreet. You'd think the exhausts had fallen into a pot of anti-noise standards when they were small. Even the cavalry has been put through its paces. The power is there, but without the frenetic jostling of pistons. It has to be said that the long gear ratios asepticize the character a little, to the benefit of greater smoothness. a gearbox where selection is somewhat in need of review. The cardan shaft that accompanies it is very discreet
Not so long ago, this 1600 would have been the talk of the town. The competition has come out swinging, and the echoes are far-reaching. That's no reason to sulk over the Marauder, which may be less exceptional but is certainly better suited to the market.

Especially in the mountains; just "ask" and it responds immediately. Great roadholding in the many bends.
Given my age, I think this will be my last...so I'm going to end my motorcycling life on a high note (because, of course, I'll have to stop at some point), and after that it'll be a great memory. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Sergio
