Cruiser

suzuki's custom range bids farewell to the 800 Marauder. In its place slips the new Volusia, in reference to a corner of Florida where Daytona Beach is found. As for the styling, there's no miracle formula other than adopting the current canons. Inspired by the Low Rider style, it looks like a familiar model, and with good reason: it's practically a photocopy (only slightly smaller) of theIntruder 1500. but that doesn't stop you from appreciating it, with its big headlight, imposing mudguards, big forks and enticing chrome. Both handsome and well-balanced, its lines are harmonious and elegant. It's a pity that the plastic lower part of the swingarm tarnishes the picture. Too much of a good thing...
To get moving, the Volusia uses the same powertrain as the Marauder. A 52hp water-cooled twin with an air-cooled look, with final drive via a universal joint. Discreet, supple and with an even power curve, it's not lazy, but doesn't seem as quick as its rivals.

born to be a cruiser, it's with great satisfaction that you can enjoy a relaxed ride without the slightest stress. The machine is a great help. Smooth gearbox and transmission, generous seat, efficient suspension, not too typical a riding position and more than adequate comfort... A real pleasure. We would have liked a few more horses and a higher ground clearance. Especially since the chassis is so much more fun. Good brakes and equipment (dashboard with speedometer and warning lights in the fuel tank) complete the package. A touch of originality would have been welcome, but even without that, it looks very classy on the shores of an East Coast beach.

French Corsair Model 2003
Hello, 2004 model bought with 12000 kms. I've had the machine for two years now with 20000 kms on the odometer. I had to clean the carburetor and change the air membrane. As it's a carburetor, you have to fine-tune the adjustment between winter and summer. Lastly, I avoided the worst with the regulator terminal that melted. Otherwise, a very nice machine. Rating : 4/5

My 2002 Volusia VL 800 has been my great satisfaction for 12 years. I've clocked up 130,000 KM, and apart from the serious maintenance, I've had very few repairs. Whether riding solo or in a duo, it's very satisfying, especially if you don't think of it as a racing bike!

Very nice bike and an imposing size for an 800. I love it Rating : 4/5

Hello,
I have a problem with my Suzuki Volusia VL800. My engine is heating up abnormally. After checking, the oil and fluid levels are correct and there are no visible leaks. What could be the cause?
Thank you in advance for your answers. Best regards Michel.

Bought new, to date 70,000 kms on the odometer, reliable bike, great value and well equipped, low consumption, rear tires 15,000 kms and front 24,000 kms, the only complaint I could make is the lack of rear brake.
in conclusion, a very good bike.

as for me, I had an 883 sport harley. Nothing to say, of course, but I opted for greater comfort and the Volusia gives me what I'm looking for at a lower cost Rating : 5/5

I bought a Volusia (K3) about 2 months ago, having read the many comments here and elsewhere about this excellent bike. Hats off to all the contributors to this column for the quality and accuracy of their observations. The purchase was made without any surprises, and I'm totally satisfied. Many thanks to all!

French L'avis de Model 2001
Good evening,

- I came to Custom by obligation in 2008, because of a handicap in my left leg (since 1981) which doesn't get any better with age (51)
- No longer interested in the "arms race", I had the opportunity to try out a friend's Volusia 800, while I still had my BMW R1000RT with all options

- Well, I was pleasantly surprised and went in search of this model, found in the East of France in June 2008 with 11900 km - year 2001 - equipped
- I had to adapt to the brakes (coming out of ABS) and it's true that the rear one "fishes", but with the engine brake, it does the job well
- It's also true that I'm experiencing "a hole" depending on the rpm and gear engaged

- 17500 km in October 2008, I'm tackling the 18000 km service, just ignition/carburation at a dealer, the rest I'll take care of

- Otherwise, it's playful, smooth, supple and has a lot of trunk space for a custom, it's well-balanced and swings well in curves, albeit with some rubbing
- I roll quietly to the sound of the V2
- I feel some muscle/joint discomfort in my shoulders, more biceps and right forearm
With my diminished physique, I hope to be able to continue riding my last machine for a few more years
Bonne route à tous (pour moi Vienne et Vendée)
Goodbye to you all.

French Grandbarbu Model 2001
I've had my VL for 1 year. It's my first motorcycle and I took my driving test with it. Very happy
Fuel consumption between 5.6 and 6.2L per 100 depending on riding, very reasonable
Comfortable, I just wear out the soles of my boots a bit on tight bends... It rubs a bit

French craizyfrog Model 2001
hi, I bought this bike new in 2004, no regrets, low fuel consumption, no problems with speed, you just have to adjust the selector, you can equip it at its cost, already 37200kms always ridden as a duo, no mechanical problems, just do the maintenance regularly,i agree with the rear brake, but it's compensated for by an engine brake, very good torque for an 800, decent top speed, already up to 170 on the odometer, and to date, with all the accessories I've fitted, it's reached 300kg on the scale.you can buy this bike with your eyes closed, and have a good trip. French Hervé Model 2001
Owned an 800 VL for 1 year. Indeed, there is a gap between the 4th and 5th. Passenger comfort limited to short rides. Very good value for money. Still lacks a bit of engine character and a rear brake. Very beautiful, I don't regret my choice. Rating : 5/5
French tess38 Model 2001
Happy owner of an 800 volusia since 21/04/06, I really don't regret my purchase,
this bike is a real pleasure to ride, with good performance and a lot of luggage space at low revs. in short, it's a real pleasure to ride
i previously owned a 900 RF Suzuki

French P2000 Model 2001
I've owned this marvel for 3 years now: it's a real pleasure to ride, no fatigue with a duo because the torque is exceptional. Gives you the pep you need if you get nervous. Impeccable finish, only the rear braking could be a bit more aggressive. But unbeatable value for money. It's easy to get the hang of, which can cause a little shudder if you lean over too much, given the low ground clearance :-) I recommend it for those with less than 10,000 km/year. Rating : 5/5
French olpan Model 2001
As a recent owner of an 800 Volusia, I have no regrets about my choice. Big size, amazing torque, ample performance, luxurious comfort, quality lighting. In short, nothing but good! The only downside: a slight dead spot between 4th and 5th gear. Rating : 5/5
French jackot Model 2001
excellent machine, well born.but, would deserve a disc at the rear and not a drum and a good injection, like Vstrom 650!!!to give it good frank accelerations!!! Rating : 5/5
