presentation of the 660 Trident Tribute Edition 2024
Everyone agrees that the 660 Trident has charm. Its tapered curves harmonize perfectly with its petite face and girlish frame. Triumph makes it even more enticing with this Tribute Edition. Not only does it pay tribute to one of its distant Tourist Trophy ancestors, it also teases the eye with a highly successful sporty decoration.
The Union Jack crest seems to have been transmuted into another dimension, before spiritually dissipating across the whole bike. A fine exercise in style, infused into the tank, front mudguard, headlight cap and wheel arch.
The 67 is not chosen at random. It was the racing number of the "Slippery Sam" - a 70s racing motorcycle competing in the Production class. This Trident 750 had earned its "slippery" nickname from its oil-losing episodes (ah, the reliability of old-fashioned British bikes... ;-) during the 1970 Bol d'Or. But after that, the machine became a real scarecrow on the Isle of Man. In its class, it won the TT on 5 consecutive occasions, from 1971 to 1975.
With this Tribute Edition, Triumph returns to the days when its special series were packed with equipment at a very reasonable extra cost. The 660 Trident gains an Up&Down shifter, a color-matched windscreen and a two-piece aluminum engine cover. All this plus retro-racing decoration for... the same price as the standard model - what a great offer! Which Triumph advertises as a 900-euro customer benefit. The Bluetooth module, very much in vogue for taking advantage of Smartphone capabilities (calls, messages, step-by-step navigation), remains an option.
Triumph's little English model is also original in that it is the only roadster in its class to be powered by a three-cylinder engine. With a displacement of 660 cm3, it delivers 81 hp at 10,250 rpm. An output calibrated for its audience (it can produce more on the Daytona, aimed at sporty customers). Not heavy and agile, the Trident weighs in at 189 kg ready to ride, and is supported by a steel trellis frame, inverted fork and Showa shock absorber, Nissin brakes with 2-piston calipers biting 310 mm discs, and 17" wheels mounted in 120 and 180.

Like the models in the Steath, Chrome and Gold Line collections, the Tribute Edition will only be available for one year. It arrives in April for 8,695 euros.
