presentation of the Tiger Sport 800 Tour 2026
To tour on a grand scale, Triumph has a fleet of trails. "And it's because it has a fleet that England goes where it pleases and hits when it pleases". From the 900 Tiger GT Pro to the 1200 Explorer to theAlpine edition, there's plenty to choose from.
But the Tiger 800 Sport Tour is in a different league. Its equipment means it can be ridden off the bollard as soon as the keys are in the pocket.
A wider presence
Its size jumps out at you, its specific, majestic colors heighten its appeal, its hips inflate the pockets and its trunk reinforces its GT expression. Here's a Tiger that wants to ride with clothes, desires, saddlebags and a lighter dynamism than the 9 and 12. A Triumph-style Tracer 9 GT, if you will.
Both have 3-cylinders, impatience and bags. Let's take a closer look at the luggage pack. The Tiger Sport 800 Tour carries the trio best suited to long trips, with its 49-liter top case that can accommodate two full-face helmets and two panniers. Each can hold one helmet, and the two together offer a capacity of 57 liters.
Which doesn't mean you'll be taking along 4 spare helmets. But with a total of 106 liters of storage space, you've got plenty of clothes, two pairs of shoes and beach gear to get you to Grau-du-Roi on the first leg. Getting there in a hurry is no problem at all: the Tiger's 115 hp from its 798 cm3 engine make it a fast mover. It's a lively, successful engine, but one that won't be able to express itself as well as the Tiger Sport or Trident. Not its fault, nor its engine mapping, but the equipment on this "Tour" version adds 18 kg to the weight. In fact, the machine weighs 232 kilos fully loaded.

It wants to go far, but not alone
Load up the cargo holds and it's easy to add another 15 kg or so to the stern.
Are English bags really that heavy? No, they're not. But that's not all. The equipment also includes an aluminum pack carrier, a center stand, a comfort seat, TPMS tire pressure monitoring, and handguards and heated handgrips to keep the cold at bay. Mr. will appreciate them for his spring or morning driving, while Mrs. will appreciate the two backrests on the trunk. Or the other way round, with Madame on the handlebars and Monsieur as a spectator. Or other combinations, before you're accused of social-siderurgical agrarian sexism.
We've done the "tour" of this pack. The Tiger 800 Sport already comes with an adjustable bubble, small additional deflectors, Bluetooth and multimedia connectivity from your smartphone, Showa suspension with plenty of adjustments, three riding modes, traction control and cornering ABS, an Up&Down shifter and cruise control.
It's a pity Triumph didn't push the premium envelope a little further by getting rid of the LCD/TFT speedo. A full TFT panel would be more appropriate.

Triumph sympathizes
Now for the surprise. Because the English brand has kept one trump card. Taken separately, the "Tour" accessories would cost just over 2800 baht, not including paintwork. Whereas the Tiger Sport 800 Tour claims 2,300 euros more than the standard model. As Arthur would say, "Ah bah, là, il y a le beau geste" - Kaamelott Season 2 episode 77.
In terms of equipment and price, this Tiger could find itself up against a Honda CB1000GT (without top-case, but with piloted suspension) or a Yamaha Tracer 9 with suitcases and top-case (but not the GT, which is considerably more expensive).
The gesture is there, of course, but so is the final bill. Not far from 15 grand for an 800 crossover. Luggage is always expensive, we agree; the Tiger is a very good bike, we defend it. But it's a road we'll inevitably have to think about.
