presentation of the Tiger Sport 660 2026
The arrival of the 660 Tiger Sport in 2022 was a real provocation. It takes guts to take on the Tracer 7, V-Strom 800SE, and Versys 650. But Triumph went even further, taunting them with a 3-cylinder engine, the only one in its class.
In 2026, it decided to hit harder with a denser hammer. Not bigger, mind you. Together with its sibling, the Trident, they went on vacation with the Daytona— and when they returned, everyone understood that sharing is a virtue. As a result, both the roadster and the trail bike stole the "sporty" engine to announce a formidable increase in performance.
Extending the stride
14 more horsepower! That's nothing!?!? For a 660cc engine, that's a spectacular improvement. How did they do it? The mechanics of the Dayto', and therefore the new Tiger Sport, have been optimized with a red zone shifted 20% upwards (from 10,500 to 12,600 rpm), a larger air box, bigger exhaust valves, a 44 mm injection body per cylinder instead of a single 39 mm for everyone, a redesigned intake and exhaust, cam profiles with greater lift, and revamped engine management.
As a result, the little Tiger is taking the sector by storm. It now offers 95 horsepower, which must be sought at 11,250 rpm—that's 1,000 rpm higher than the 81 hp of the 2022-2025 model. More reach, more watts, and more torque too. It goes from 6.6 mkg to 6.9 mkg. A maxi that also revs higher, but Triumph announces that at least 80% of the value is available between 3,000 rpm and 12,000 rpm.
The mechanical department has also revised the gearbox, clutch, and shifter operation for smoother and more responsive performance.
The kind of things that are very pleasant in everyday use. Does it show it off proudly? Not really, as the Tigrou's stylistic evolution is discreet. You can "feel" that it has changed, but it's hard to put your finger on the differences. The main change is at knee level, with thicker side panels that extend significantly up the edges of the fork head. This provides a little more protection for the legs.
The chest is still protected by a windshield that can be adjusted (with one hand) by 83 mm. However, hand guards and heated grips are still optional extras.

Evolution of the species
The 660 Tiger Sport has gained muscle, a little weight (+5 kg), and range. Its tank can hold 1.4 liters more. With 18.6 liters in the tank, you can expect to reach 400 km when riding at a leisurely pace. In reality, and when pushing the horsepower, this will be more limited, but you should still get 300 km between refueling.
The frame has been slightly revised, but unlike the Trident, the Tiger does not have a new shock absorber with rebound adjustment. Only the preload can be adjusted. The rider will have at their disposal Showa suspension components with 150 mm of travel, Nissin 2-piston brakes biting 310 mm discs, Michelin Road 5 tires as standard, and a good batch of electronics.
Lightweight when this model was first released, it has been beefed up withthe 1.1 upgrade in 2025. It now comes standard with a shifter, three riding modes (Sport/Rain/Road), cruise control, an inertial unit to optimize ABS and traction control, full LED lighting, and MyTriumph connectivity. It will be very handy to have a navigation system (turn-by-turn in this case) and to be able to control your smartphone, especially for music; calls are distracting.
Oh, yes, there's still the mixed TFT and LCD instrumentation. When will we see a nice dashboard?

A tigron?
The improvements to the 660 Tiger Sport have raised the price. Moderately. The hunting bike costs €300 more. Triumph remains just under €10,000. Funny detail: the price is exactly the same as that of the new 800 Trident. And in direct competition with the Tracer 7. The Yam isn't as powerful, but it can accommodate an optional robotized clutch. Just like the new Transalp. Trail bikes are definitely at the forefront on all fronts.
This motorcycle remains available in A2.
