presentation of the Tiger 1200 Explorer XRt 2017
Here we are at the pinnacle of Triumph's trail/touring range. The Tiger Explorer is a true Lord of the road. Over-equipped and boasting an abundance of on-board assistance and comfort features, the XRt makes arguments in every direction: a big 3-cylinder with 139 hp and over 12 mkg of torque, a quality chassis, a travel claim worthy of a saloon car, and the allure of an English rock.
t for Touring? The XRx already fits the bill, with its TSAS-controlled suspension, 3 driving modes, cruise control, cornering ABS, heated grips, etc... Triumph believes that an even more upscale Explorer has a rightful place at the top of the range. It has to be said that advances in electronics have made it possible to develop a whole host of little extras.
The Explorer XRt adds both practicality and splendor to its bag of tricks. It's up to you to decide which category you'd like to place the added features such as the higher bubble, tire monitoring system, optional luggage support plates, hill-start assist, engine protection bars, heated rider and passenger seats, and additional riding modes. On the XR, there are two modes, 'Road' and 'Rain'. The XRx adds 'Off-Road', a more touring-oriented mode.
The XRt is further refined with 'Sport' and 'Rider Configurable'. The former is designed to make the most of the engine by providing a more direct throttle response. The ABS setting ensures optimized braking on tarmac roads. The 'Sport' configuration increases rear-wheel slip compared with Road mode, for a more dynamic ride. TSAS will ensure firmer compression to tackle the most winding roads.
As for the 'Rider Configurable', it simply allows the rider to adjust everything, to program HIS riding mode.
thus equipped, the Tiger Explorer XRt needs little more than a pair of panniers. The plethora of equipment comes at a cost of 10 kilos more than the base version, and a substantial budget increase... And yet it's not as bleeding as some of its competitors. All in a finely suggested English atmosphere. If Jaguar had designed a motorcycle, it would probably have looked like this one.
