presentation of the 125 TW 1999
this is the bike you'd like to have in your pocket, so you can take it everywhere. An unpretentious motorcycle with a cute, fun look. A good seat, a tank that's not too big in acidic colors, big bladders, and the ability to go everywhere... A must-have, I tell you. The roadholding, healthy, does not suffer from the big shoes that contribute to comfort. With these, you're just as likely to stroll around town as you are to frolic on the beach. Light in both weight and price, the TW dispenses with some equipment, and doesn't benefit from a latest-generation engine. The SR-sourced single is quite lively, and the gearbox allows it to be bubbly, but it vibrates quite a bit under full load. On the other hand, it's sober and will give you plenty of mileage. The TW brakes well, but you can only rely on the front. The rear drum has nothing going for it. When you're on the move, you'll have to rely on the engine's sympathetic "honk" to be sure of the revs, as the dashboard offers the bare minimum. For fun, apart from Suzuki's new van-van, you won't find anything better!

I've never had a breakdown on this bike! INCREDIBLE, I tell you!
Insurance: 55 â'¬/year third-party.
If, like me, your budget is tight and you want a nice, solid, inexpensive bike, TW.
Weak point: the rear brake is a drum brake, so it's a bit weak.
There's no kick, so if the battery dies....poussette !

it consumes about 3.5/4 liters per 100, I have to pay I think 3.50euros of insurance per month. I made practically no expenses except oil change; once the front brakes plus the tires which were already worn in 2006 when I bought it. I don't want another one and I'm sad that it's no longer being made. It's puncture-proof even if the top speed is BOF. 100km/h for mine. sufficient in town, bad on the freeway Rating : 5/5 Respond to NC

it's only got 5 gears and at full 4th gear, I'm only going 70..
and yet it's well maintained and has only 9000kms
what's more, the fork is ridiculous: a gusseted fork!
just like the low-end mopeds of the 90s!
if you attack even a little with this bike, the fork is of poor quality and the rear tire is huge, so the front fork chases the rear, and that at 90km/h
i think it's a purely city bike. Rating : 5/5 Respond to tom125
i myself have a Tw from 2001 and have starting problems that nobody has solved so far (Yamaha dealers) after checking on my part: I have a spark when I turn on the ignition switch and then nothing until I release it and then a new spark? Merci si quelqu'un a une solution. Thierry Rating : 5/5 Respond to titi48
So the solution is
- be happy anyway, because it's a great little bike
- Change the pot for an akrapovitch at 500€, the seat for 250 at Bagster, an avia LEM hose for the front brake, fit a 13 sprocket, and fiddle with the carburetor, its screws and its housing..
Or buy a ..... Rating : 5/5 Respond to tiwiste du
Of course, you won't be able to go 140 on it, but it's perfect for beginners
Whether you're going for a short run, a Sunday ride or even a bit of TT, it's got what it takes!
Rating : 5/5 Respond to bhl33
But it makes up for it with its low consumption, my minimum was 2.8 l per 100 and the maximum I did was 3.5
I don't understand why in all the magazines I see, it always says 4 to 4.9 l, I've never used that
Otherwise, it's devilishly easy to handle, goes everywhere, brakes well but nothing more
Today it has 28,000 kms and I'm thinking of selling it to buy another 125, maybe the new XT, or to buy a 250; or else to keep shooting with this TW. Rating : 5/5 Respond to 13-ajt
i was surprised by the way it behaved in town: it slipped in everywhere, didn't consume any fuel, and allowed me to go into street corners that even my car wouldn't go into, because they're so fucked up!
All in all, I'd say it's a great bike for a start, with a view to getting that coveted driving licence..
