while it's regrettable that the 2013 YZs haven't been upgraded, we're delighted that the 2-stroke engine has been retained in Yamaha's motocross range. The brand's first victory in the Motocross World Championship dates back to 1973. That was with the brand's first two-stroke version of the YZ 250. Today, with its lightweight, long-stroke engine delivering instant power, it's still at the top of its game, and remains the ultimate competitive two-stroke motocross bike.

A high-tech aluminum frame contributes to the YZ 250's low weight, while new, lighter rims reduce unsprung weight, improving agility and suspension quality. A new "speed block" trim enhances its factory look. The newly designed seat ensures the perfect balance between mobility and grip.

With its high-performance two-stroke engine, remarkable agility and featherweight, the latest YZ250 model propels you into another world. The YZ 250's long-stroke, liquid-cooled two-stroke engine features the YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System), which enhances torque and power at low revs. YPVS enhances the characteristics of a traditional two-stroke engine by increasing its range of use.

The YZ 250 features a lightweight chassis, thanks to a particularly advanced aluminum frame. Thanks to its low weight, compactness and judicious weight distribution, the YZ 250 is precise on the track, lively when changing angles and easy to place when jumping.

The inverted fork with effective protection and the Kayaba combination with the titanium spring of the Monocross system ensure that the YZ 250's suspension is remarkably progressive and optimally efficient in both compression and rebound phases. The particularly compact petal-disc braking system minimizes unsprung weight and enhances suspension responsiveness on all types of terrain. The new seat offers better grip and optimizes rider mobility, so crucial with a cross-country bike.
