presentation of the MT-10 2016

A hybrid midway between sportbike and "beefy" roadster, the MT-10 oozes big watts and promises unrivalled performance thanks to a 998 cm3 cross-plane derived from the R1.

aesthetically, the connection with the supersport is obvious, thanks to the dual-lens front end.the dual-lens front end is inspired by the R1, while respecting the standards of the MT family with its side scoops. The result, tortured and complex to a fault, is sure to leave no one indifferent. Its ultra-short wheelbase (1400 mm) further accentuates its stocky, compact front end, making the new MT the most compact roadster in its class. In terms of color, Yamaha has opted for black, while adding touches of 'electric' color for a resolutely urban look.

as for the mill, Iwata's engineers started from the R1's 998 cm3 cross-plane 4-cylinder engine, which they reworked to deliver more low- and mid-range torque. They worked on the fuel system, air intake and exhaust, and fitted a new crankshaft with optimized inertia weights. Power is worthy of the most belligerent machines in the category, with 160 hp peaking at 11,500 rpm. A little torque for flavor?! No, plenty! That's 11.3 mkg at peak 9,000 rpm. But don't tell me it's not true...

to tame this 'maxi-naked' machine, the rider can count on a bevy of high-tech assistance systems.
The D-MODE system offers a choice of three engine behavior modes. Standard, Sport(A) or Soft (B). Acting on throttle opening, ignition timing and fuel injection volume, each mode allows you to adapt to every situation.
The MT-10 also features a Traction Control System (TCS) which, unlike that of the MT-09 Tracer, will be adjustable to 3 levels of intervention.
In addition to its engine, the MT-10 also inherits the R1's assisted clutch (anti-dribble system).
For cruising in complete peace of mind, the MT-10 is equipped with a cruise control that can be activated on 4th, 5th and 6th gears, between 50 and 180km/h from the left-hand grip. Once activated, speed can be increased or decreased in 2 km/h steps at the flick of a switch. The system automatically deactivates when the brakes, clutch or throttle are applied.

as for the chassis, the MT-10 uses the same aluminum deltabox frame as the R1, but reworked to offer a more roadster-like riding position. The forward-leaning position has been set at a slightly greater angle than on the MT-09 to ensure optimum comfort at high speed. The wide, straight and slightly rearward-facing handlebars provide a natural seating position for sporty riding.

Yamaha MT-10 2016

In terms of equipment, the suspension is the same as on the R1, with a 43 mm KYB inverted fork with 120 mm travel, combined with a trellis-type swingarm and KYB monocross shock absorber. Braking is provided by two 320 mm discs with 4-piston radial calipers at the front and a 220 mm disc with single-piston caliper at the rear. ABS is standard.

the MT-10 features a new multifunction LCD instrument panel.
Finally, Yamaha points out that the bike incorporates a number of deliberately exposed elements, illustrating the customization possibilities offered by the MT-10, such as the installation of different bubbles or side saddlebags, for example.

the Yamaha MT-10 will land in May 2016 and will be available in three colors (Night Fluo, Tech Black Race Blu) for a well-placed price of €13,199.

French Model 2016
A machine that's a lot of fun to ride. Acceleration and power in every gear. It's very playful and allows you to come out of corners with a bang. You really need to take the time to get to know it. The points that really don't make it an ultimate weapon are the range, with an average of 7.5l /100, and the rear ABS, which is too intrusive and even dangerous, causing you to lose your trajectory when braking hard.
Otherwise, there's plenty of fun to be had

How can you make such an ugly bike? I mean, you can't see it when you're on it. It's a pity, because it's a great thrill machine, even if there's more to it than that Rating : 2/5
French Model 2016

I've been driving it for 1 year now, and it still gives me the same frisson and banana feeling when I get on it and switch on the ignition, and what can I say about the blissful acceleration? My wife loves it too, and changing or modifying the footrests is out of the question (go figure!!). What happiness ðŸ˜" Rating : 5/5

Ho fouuuu !!!!
French Model 2016
I had the FZ1, and sold it for the MT-10 after the test.
This bike is really anything. The queen of superlatives, cheeky as can be, and sweet when she needs to be. In short, I love it. Can't wait for the break-in period to be over.

French Model 2016
i've just tried out this bike, and it's really exceptional: the engine responds at every rpm, it handles like a bike, it's very easy to corner, and the front end is exceptionally precise. what surprised me during the test ride was that the bike was really comfortable, with very little wind - you wonder where it goes. I didn't get any more wind than on my Fazer with a fork head and bubble, even though I'm 1.83. As for the passenger, the seat is fine, but the footrests are 20 cm too high Rating : 5/5

French Model 2016
Hi, I've just tried the MT 10 at my dealer's, it's really impressive, a bike with incredible power and easy handling
1/4H to get the hang of it, and after that, it's a real pleasure to ride 10/10. But as I said, it's a bike for bachelors, and the passenger isn't even worth it. So either they make a touring model or I'll have to look for something else, unfortunately I do a lot of riding with a passenger, so that's not possible, I hope Yamaha will remedy that

A quand le model qui remplace la FZS 100
French Model 2016
Very nice bike, but I'm a bit worried about the passenger, who won't be comfortable enough to cover the miles, and of course the missing fork head to keep out the wind

What I find distressing, since I've been riding a Yam for 35 years, is not having any information about it. Do they make a model like the FZS with a fork head and passenger comfort, or even accessories?

This bike looks superb, very agile, very powerful if not overpowering.
It makes you want to ride it.
I'm still keeping my FZ8 for a while, just waiting for the "monster" to arrive at the dealership for a test ride and........ of the occases on the market because the price....... not really up my alley,
See you soon on the roads

At last, a machine that makes me want to break my piggy bank. The geuele of this bike is to die for and the ramage seems to match the plumage! I can't wait for it to arrive in dealerships in May, so I'll just hand over my Ducat and buy! Rating : 5/5

Please Mr. Yamaha
A tracer 1000

Just like the MT09 Tracer but in 1000 ...
Chain, small fork head, nothing more, it's heavy after …

Just to "tease" the Multistrada and other XR1000s
Especially with 5000 to 6000 euros less !!!

It's a pity that less and less thought is given to the position of the passenger and to the wind resistance, which is too important. I'll have to wait for all these modifications before buying it (a pity). I'll have to ride my FZS 1000 again, otherwise I think the bike is superb, apart from the not-so-great colours Rating : 4/5
