presentation of the X 2011
where else could you ride an exceptionally light, manoeuvrable and powerful motocross bike? And what if it made no noise?
the Zero X is the most powerful electric motorcycle on the market today. Built from the ground up, the Zero X incorporates the most advanced electric motorcycle technologies. With its exceptional, immediately available torque, light weight and direct, gearless transmission, the Zero X is a high-performance cross-country motorcycle that will push you to your limits! Its direct drive and low weight will let you fly over obstacles.
the Z-Force lithium-ion battery and high-performance electric motor are optimized for instant acceleration. The Zero X is built around a special aviation-style aluminum frame that allows for quick, tool-free battery replacement, so you can keep riding without the hassle of recharging the battery.
for 2011, the Zero X is available in two completely new configurations, an off-road version and a road-qualified version (Zero XD). Thanks to the new road-legal version, motorcyclists will be able to ride the Zero X on roads open to traffic for the first time. The new version comes with lights, mirrors, a longer transmission ratio, a side stand and road-approved tires. (The tires on the Zero XD are the same as those on the Zero X)
both Zero X configurations feature a new off-road suspension system, plus a powerful new braking system to get you through the most technical trails. A new battery cover in anodized aluminum and new graphics give the Zero X a new look, but that's not all! The Zero X also offers a number of technical improvements. In addition to a new powertrain, the Zero X offers a fast-charging option that cuts charging time in half, to around an hour. Other improvements include a more robust frame, improved grip on the footrests, height-adjustable handlebars and a key-operated starter that incorporates a locking system.

Thank you for the information; I had also found it on the Zero Motorcycles website, but the 2 French distributors are not very forthcoming by e-mail.... still no answer to my questions after 15 days! What's more, the models on the Zero site are not quite the same as those presented in this article (nor is the price, for model X), so it's hard to get an idea... I'll keep investigating...
