A truly sporty machine with an even more torque-oriented twin that could give many a machine a run for its money. A toy, a tool, or a mixture of both? Aprilia has taken great care to design a very attractive machine.

until now, the Aprilia Supermot' range has been dominated by the rather gentle Pegaso Strada, and the downright nasty SXV 450 / 550, a true beast of competition for experienced riders.
This SMV will extend the manufacturer's range of action, as its displacement will enable it to position itself at the heart of the market. Its profile, seductive looks and sporty equipment will appeal not only to enthusiasts of the genre, but also to those who want something bolder than the 660 XT-X, and lighter than the Ducati Hypermotard and KTM 950 SM. In fact, the latter may be a little worried. The SVM's twin spits out almost as much horsepower as the Shiver 's: 92 bhp at 8,750 rpm - an excellent figure for a twin of this cubage. Maximum torque remains unchanged, at just over 8 mkg at 4,500 rpm. Aprilia has taken care, however, to adapt the mapping to boost mid-range curves and enable more pronounced kicks - all managed by the "Ride By wire" electronic throttle control.

not only will this fresh twin (for the moment, it only equips the Shiver) give wings to this new Supermot', but the whole machine has everything to provoke envy. The pencil stroke that designed the machine deserves a tip of the hat. You can tell the designer wanted to rip it up, and from the mudguards to the taillight, you can't help but admire the work. A beautiful Italian that breathes and breathes sport. It's not for nothing that it's shod in Pirelli SuperCorsa. From one end to the other, the parts invite temptation: superb gold rims with slender Y-sticks, petal-shaped brake discs mated to Brembo radial calipers, a violent fork head with aviation hose whiskers, the SL 750 's remarkable frame (a tubular steel trellis connected to aluminum plates), a swingarm with a Lord of the Rings swords profile, red cylinder head covers like on the MV-Agusta Brutale 910 R, under-seat exhausts with shark gills, and forgotten passenger footrests.... for the pure pleasure of egotists, of a grinding wheel put in the way in all the virolos and of grated soles.

It's a little-known bike, and that's a shame. It's every bit as interesting as the Ducati 821. The seat is more comfortable than a basic supermotard, but the suspension is pretty harsh. It lives up to its name. The sport mode is quite brutal at start-up to get the maximum feel. Good acceleration, good braking, good cornering behaviour on roads that aren't too rough, it's all fun. The small negative point is its range. The reserve indicator lights up at around 130 kilometers, so you'd better have a gas station nearby. It could do with a few kilos less. I've owned a Dorsoduro 750 for 4 years now, and I'm more than delighted with my bike (13,000kms of pure pleasure). But I have to admit that I won't be doing Lille-Cannes in one go, otherwise I'm off to have a buttock transplant (very, very hard saddle). i'm 1.88 and I'm just fine, but I think that below 1.75 it becomes difficult to "straddle".
After that, it's a real plus to be able to overlook the road and anticipate.
On the other hand, compared with the versys, the dorso has no protection, at least for those who need it, because even at a very fast pace and despite my size, it doesn't cause me any more ge^ne than that.

i sold an r1 because it was too powerful for what we can do with it in France, looking for a supermot.
the 660 XT was not powerful enough, so I tested several supermotard models. Ducat hypermot 12 ,ktm...
