presentation of the RSV4 1000 FACTORY APRC ABS 2014
the RSV4... The civilian Superbike. The one that took the title to Noale in 2010 and brought it back in 2012. A tool dedicated to the track, with interaction close to fantasy, and a delirious V4 that bewitches you. Do we need more today?
more than ever, as the competition competes with ingenuity for a place at the zenith of the podiums. Aprilia's hypersport received a major upgrade in 2013.
The redesigned exhaust and fine-tuned electronic management add 4 more horsepower to the engine, which now develops 184 hp at 12,500 rpm. Torque also climbs, maxing out at 117 Nm at 10,500 rpm.
on the front wheel, a discerning eye will have spotted the Brembo M430 monobloc brake calipers; more difficult but nonetheless noteworthy, the radial master cylinder and radial caliper are new too. But what you'll notice most is that little serrated track. Like the CBR 1000 RR, the S 1000 RR, the ZX-10R or the Ducati 1199 panigale, and soon all the other circuit monsters, the RSV4 Factory features ABS. In this case, the Bosch 9MP system. Lightweight (approx. 2 kg), it can be disengaged and set to 3 levels:
- Level 1 / Track: track-optimized mode. It acts on both wheels and works to obtain the best possible performance.
- Level 2 / Sport: Anti-lock braking acts more progressively, combining front and rear braking.
- Level 3 / Rain: More intrusive, set for low-grip conditions.
To accommodate this ABS, Aprilia has redesigned the fuel tank, increasing its capacity from 17 to 18.5 liters. Ergonomics have also been improved, with a few adjustments and a lower seat.
each of the Bosch 9MP's mappings can be combined with the 3 engine management modes to create a personalized dynamic behavior. And to give its best, the RSV4 retains and updates its APRC, which includes :
- ATC: traction control, adjustable to 8 positions, manages torque and optimizes traction.
- AWC: anti-wheeling. Also adjustable, it makes the most of the available acceleration without wasting energy on angling.
- ALC: start-up assistance for rocket-like take-offs. You put the throttle wide open, and when you're at the top, all you have to do is release the clutch and the bike will manage the optimum acceleration all by itself. Here too, there are 3 possible settings.
- AQS: The Aprilia shifter, which allows you to shift gears with a flick of the boot, without releasing the right-hand grip or intervening on the clutch.
The electronics of theAprilia Performance Ride Controlhave been updated for even greater efficiency.
and let's not forget the superb chassis components, the pride of this factory edition. Adjustable engine positioning, Öhlins suspension, carbon parts, forged wheels, aluminum perimeter frame derived from Aprilia's GP 250 experience (18 world titles, after all). The 1000 RSV4 remains a superb machine, with a level of efficiency at the top of its class.bo Monobloc, forged aluminum rims, superb V4 with adjustable position in the chassis, and multiple injection maps. The RSV4 Factory APRC also retains the minor updates introduced with the SE, namely a much slimmer, less ugly exhaust system, a 200 mm-wide rear tire and optimized gear ratios.

it makes you feel at home on a sportbike... bewitching, that's the word!
on a daily basis can be a bit demanding, but for the pleasure of getting out on a plane on sunny days, it's just L'Outil! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Sam
Adjustable electronics in all directions allow you to tame the beast little by little.
The price isn't cheap, but the much less expensive R version gives the same sensations. Unless you're a seasoned rider and regularly ride the track, you won't notice any difference, as most of the changes concern the chassis rather than the engine (apart from a variable-length intake that's relatively inefficient)
PS: The serrated wheel was already present on non-abs APRC models. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Ernata
On the other hand, the Schifter isn't always very responsive, and the price, even slightly lowered, remains stratospheric.
A good memory in any case. Rating : 5/5 Respond to palavas34
