presentation of the 1000 RSV4 RF Limited Edition 2018
Although no longer as dominant in competition as it once was, Aprilia still maintains a strong presence in this field. Commitment to MotoGP, an extensive customer program with Factory Works, and one of the best hypersports bikes on the market in the RSV4 RR(RF) catalog. Its overpowering V4 is a thrill to ride, its chassis is impressively efficient, and it's certainly one of the closest you'll ever get to a racing machine. In offering this Limited Edition, the Noale-based company is giving it a piece of MotoGP.
for some time now, the aerodynamics of world championship prototypes have been influenced by the appearance of winglets. These are small fins on the sides of the fairing to boost downforce at the front. Aprilia is the first to make this technology available on the market. Via a Factory Works Kit for adaptation, or as standard on the RSV4 RF Limited Edition.
Aprilia presented this model at the opening of the GP of the Americas. The first of its kind, with a set of hollowed-out scoops simulating 4 fins. Unveiled in the company of Gresini team riders Aleix Espargaro and Scott Redding, it is a fine nod to the RS-GP.
To further assert its distinctiveness, this RSV4 is decked out in Italian colors, with a dress inspired by the old AF1 250 small sports bike with which Loris Reggiani scored the first of Aprilia's 294 Grand Prix victories in 1987.
manufactured in just 125 units, the Limited Edition will only be sold in the USA (100) and Canada (25). Its serial number is laser-engraved on the fork crown. But don't be fooled by the winglets - they're only cosmetic. The manufacturer specifies that these winglets are not functional, but stylistic.
However, the RSV4's 201 horsepower, Öhlins suspension, advanced chassis and cutting-edge electronics will not prevent it from competing with all its rivals.
Will it be the initiator of a new field of investigation for performance?
