presentation of the SB8K édition Gobert 2004
with its new SB8K, Bimota is cultivating its brand image as a prestigious, passionate manufacturer of exclusive, sublime motorcycles. The SB8K, an evolution of the SB8R, is destined to defend Rimini's colors in the Superbike championship, but above all to remind ordinary mortals that Bimotas were, and remain, machines above the rest.
The factory remains faithful to its habit of motorizing its models - collaborating with another manufacturer. Like the SB8R, the K is powered by the Suzuki twin from the 1000 TLR. Revised and improved, it delivers 7 more horsepower than the Japanese sports bike. Torque has also improved, while electronic management has been entrusted to a new system.
What's most interesting is everything that surrounds this engine. The chassis is sumptuous, consisting of a double-spar aluminum frame connected to carbon elements. The swingarm, footpegs and self-supporting seat, also in carbon, are attached to this frame.
The SB8K is available in 2 versions: the Gobert and the Santamonica, each with subtle differences. The Santamonica is distinguished by its radial brake calipers, Öhlins fork (Paioli on the Gobert), 15 mm longer wheelbase, higher bubble, gold OZ Racing rims and some €4,000 extra.
Those allergic to carbon should run away. The SB8K is full of it: mudguards, saddle, fairing, frame, wheel-rider... it's everywhere. No wonder the machine weighs just 175 kg.
It may leave you speechless if you compare it to the latest GSX-R 1000, with its 178 hp and 166 kg. But in that case, you've just missed out on something beautiful. The SB8K isn't just a sports bike, it's a Bimota. A motorcycle that you desire, admire, caress... that bewitches you!
